I've got one beautiful deer in my back yard. She's been here a week, riding out the snow storms under my giant pine tree that grows 6 feet from the fence, with large bushes surrounding it! I've loved watching her. I get up in the middle of the night to quietly watch her come out of her hiding spot to eat the food & use the salt lick I put out there. It's been a beautiful peaceful week as we watch each other from just a few feet away during the day! Maybe one day she will feel safe enough to come up to me the way these deer do! It really is an honor to share space & help look after our precious wildlife. ❤

You should never feed wild animals. I live in area where white tail deer roam freely like squirrels in packs. Feeding deer in high numbers at a feeding area makes them more vulnerable to predators not to mention vehicle collisions especially for motorcyclists and other people problems this can lead to that I don’t have time for. While he has good intentions. It’s is very wrong to feed wild animals to the point that they multiple in masses.

I love everything about them; their caution, their desire and curiosity to trust, the shy, but bold closeness and the boldest were the two deer who nose-dived into the pail of food 😂! My great grandmother had 2 bucks and one doe she raised from babies, they were her babies and so tame, I have pictures of me and her deer when I couldn’t even crawl laying on a blanket outside with them and when I was older I would spend hours with them just playing and walking around with them. A dry thinker is someone who manages to squeeze out a thought, write it down or in this case, peck it out with your thumbs for the sole purpose of posting his "philosophical masterpiece" for others to see usually for the purpose of being demeaning. Anyway here's a newspaper headline from an article i found: "Entire heard of deer drop dead from starvation after man who fed them for 2 years moves away" "John Q." who was crying and too distraught for a full interview was quoted as saying "it's the same as if i'd shot every one of them with a gun". Now as funny and tragic as an article like that would be I didn't see it anywhere, I made it up. And you've never seen an article like that either. If he moves away these deer won't miss a meal. It's what they do.

​@Looiiish My thoughts exactly. When I was young the superintendent at a local state park bottle raised a fawn that lost it's mother. He turned it loose in the park and he mooched pancakes from the campers. He would eat them from your hand. The next year he was gone. He wandered out of the park during deer season. He probably walked right up to a very surprised hunter.

THAT'S FREAKING AWESOME !!! A few years ago my adult daughter and I lived outside of town (our favorite place to be), and, soon discovered that a young family of deer, 2 adults, 2 babies, walking through our backyard every evening, to go foraging, and, back through the exact same spot every morning, and, immediately started keeping 50# bags of deer corn for them to have access to every single day. We filled their dishes every day B4 dusk. We got to watch those beautiful babies grow up B4 we had to move, again, because of the slumwench we were renting from.
