i'm really glad you're doing stuff with periods!! i'm in a group at my uni called the period project and it seems like it has pretty similar goals to power to the period - we've started "take a tampon, leave a tampon" in the bathrooms of some buildings on campus while we're working to get free products provided, we're periodically donating period products to homeless shelters and community schools, and we're working on educational outreach as well. it's super important stuff and it makes me happy to see people i look up to also caring about it :-) i also appreciated that you were really inclusive in your language about it, so much of the dialogue around periods erases the existence of trans people

You are doing great work. We also got sanitary pad dispensing machines at our office ladies room. It really helps and as educated women, it is our responsibility to help the less privileged on periods through supplies and essentials

I absolutely LOVE how you include such a wide range of things in your favourites! Articles, podcasts, bras for smaller chests-- I love that it's all so diverse, educational sometimes. and original. Also, GO YOU for talking about periods without any taboo at all! And period-management for those who don't have easy access to pads, tampons etc, I love that you're bringing awareness to this issue! Basically, you rocked my world today.

Love how you give such genuine, well-composed reviews. You never just settle for pumping out the exact same review comments every other youtuber seem to repeat about exactly the same products - you are thoughtful in both your choice of product and the way you articulate your honest reviews.. I appreciate your transparency and sincerity - and also fearlessness in pushing people out of their comfort zone for greater good i.e. first comment. Your voice is important and inspiring. Keep doing you.

I've been watching Ingrid for a couple of years now and I love her now more than ever. I loved her at first because she was living a life I aspired to live. (boyfriend, living on her own, stuff like that), but slowly she started to feel more and more fake in her videos. She started getting somewhat hard to watch because it felt as though she was trying way too hard. NOW Ingrid is the most real I have ever seen her be. You can tell she is the truest version of herself and I love it. She's so down to earth and beautiful and easy to watch. Her videos have given me the confidence to be myself, and the desire to really figure out exactly what that means for me. So, thank you Ingrid. I know you won't ever see this, but thank you.

She said "um" while she was talking about the Sunday Times article. At any rate, yes, her speech is near impeccable. She's read / reads a whole lot ever since she was a child, and was mentioned in her earlier videos (and other forms) how important grammar and the like is to her.

Dear Ingrid, First, thank you so much for inspiring me. A video of yours that really broke my heart was the first video you ever put up talking about homeless women and how they maintain their period. These harsh realities left me speechless and I knew that I had to make a change and put the word out about this problem. I kept thinking that you talked about it all the time over the internet, so why couldn't I talk about it in front of 30 teens. So thats what I did. And somehow the speech that I gave won best speech of the year. They then informed me that I had to give my speech in front of the whole school. Pretty nerve wrecking. I thought that I couldn't do it. But then I kept thinking, what would Ingrid do? You would have stood up in front of everyone and open minds. So I tried to. It was one of the most rewarding experiences. Knowing that people finally understand that this was an issue and it needed to be changed. Now I have a problem. I have this drive and people supporting behind it but I don't know where to start? Where would you recommend starting? Thank you for your constant inspiration - Tere'ssa

I totally agree with your point of view on compatibility. I had a big car accident with my bf last November and since then we have seen each other in tears, in pain, in terror and in hope, and we have become closer. We weren't even really hurt, but we were so very lucky. Since that time, we talked so much about stuff, about religion, about the future, about how to be a better person, and things I never talked about before. He might not be ideal, but he has so much to offer, I love how we can talk so freely and be so crazy together. That's what I would call compatibility, and that leads to love, or to friendship. Thank you Ingrid !

Seeing how matter-of-factly you speak about these things has really made me question *why* my entire life, I've always been conditioned to think of these things as embarrassing. About the period products in shelters... wouldn't it be way more useful to donate period cups instead of liners/tampons etc.? A cup is something a woman can reuse month after month, and that will last years. Was wondering if shelters would accept these instead...
@taylorfan388 жыл бұрын
Cups need to be boiled/otherwise cleaned. Many homeless people do not have access to the facilities needed to clean a product like that, unfortunately.
@elliebeck90698 жыл бұрын
She actually coverd this is a diffrent video. The shelters explained that most of the women that need the pads are in unstable situations, and anything but pads are impractical because they won't have reliable acess to a toilet and sink that tampons and cups require. pads are able to be changed anywhere where there is privacy and a trashcan.
@mandy_2118 жыл бұрын
Thanks for both of your replies. That totally makes sense. Too bad that it won't work, since you could help out a woman for lots of years with just one purchase. But good to know that liners/pads are way more appreciated!

I don't get it. Why did we all start talking about periods that much? Yes, it's natural. Yes, it's something nobody should be ashamed of. It's healthy. And so is pooing. It's to show that there is literally nothing wrong with talking about it. I think Ingrid does it extra on purpose, to kind of make you think about it. Which it looks like it worked :) and periods actually have a worse stigma than pooping. It may not seem like it at first but it's true!

We told each other things that were so so SO personal and intimate, and before we knew it we were telling each other things we'd kept hidden from everyone (even ourselves). So when we met in person we already knew the "crazy." And we kept meeting with each other and falling for each other more and more. Now we're in love and getting married. I'm actually still finding things that make us compatible and we're still telling each other new things about ourselves. We're still learning the little things about each other which is honestly one of the things that's so wonderful about our relationship. I couldn't be happier with who I'm marrying, and I'm very confident in our relationship. (:

I love that you featured the Milk & Honey and the article so so much. I talked about the book in my July Favorites video but didn't think to feature the article because I read it in passing. But I SO appreciate the diversity of your favorites and your insight into everything. woo Ingrid haha x

I honestly can't stand this girl anymore. I've been a die hard subscriber for years but for a while now there's just something about her that completely throws me off. Idk if I'm the only one feeling that way

I think they're talented but not, like, the best poet ever. I guess I'm more of a classics-lover.

I agree. I find most of the poems have great ideas, but read like run on sentences separated by hitting enter.

+tamarackdancer precisely! beautiful ideas and messages but a lot of them feel like prose where the author replaced periods with paragraph breaks.

I love you, Ingrid! You are always so inspiring and share so many wonderful things with us. I love your interest in things of the bigger picture and that you share them and try to spark our interest in them. I have added so, so many of your book recommendations to my reading list, and the ones I have read so far I have loved! You go, girl!

I don't like her shirt, what does that mean exactly? "The future is female"? enough of this feministic shit. Some of us actually love and respect men, and think that they can be a lot more powerful and knowledgable in many things. Just because Ingrid is gay doesn't mean lets push to wipe men into dirt now.
@MsAsb-zx4sr8 жыл бұрын
You clearly have no idea what true feminism is. Her sexuality has nothing to do with it and you brining the up show what your true motives were in this comment. You sound foolish and uneducated.
@MsAsb-zx4sr8 жыл бұрын
I also strongly suggest you research the history behind the shirt.
@meganreigle72248 жыл бұрын
feminism has NOTHING to do with hating men. if that's what you think then you're missing the whole bigger picture. feminism is about equality for everyone and fixing a system that works against women.
@floofmcgoof81968 жыл бұрын
It's a remake of a shirt made in the 70's which was highly impactful at the time, it has a lot of history attached to it
@carlyrae21228 жыл бұрын
^^^ very true. you are confused as to what feminism actually is. It is not about "wiping men into dirt" (actually not sure what that means, anyway). Men and women should be equals in every respect...that is feminism. Please do more research before commenting in the future.
