Back to meet the target 👍🏻. I find it interesting that ragweed is a weed🤔. We have common in the pastures, giant on the river banks. We never see it in the fields...

Two questions. What do you use for nitrogen? And what brand of hat are you wearing? Great videos!

We use a mix of granular urea and ammonium sulfate applied with the planter - half at planting time, and half at side dress around early June. By banding it next to the corn row I feel we get a little better nutrient uptake. Next year we may put it all on at planting time though in an effort to minimize field passes. The dome-cover is a Tilley hat! I love 'em. A little spendy, but great at keeping the sun off, and they last a long time.

Do you have a harvest video to summarize your efforts?

Don't be upset about ragweed. Deer love them.

What row width is your corn?
@ravenviewfarm3 жыл бұрын
Hey Travis. We’re using 38” rows, since that’s what all of our old equipment is set up for. It actually works quite a bit better for interseeding cover crops as well, since it doesn’t shade them out quite as much as 30” rows do.

After you took the corn off were the cover crops good grazing potential?
@ravenviewfarm3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. There was a lot of green cover between the rows, and the corn stover itself would have had some nutritive value as well. It made me wish we had some livestock to put out there! Of course, the weather had to get weird on us. Right after harvest we got a mid-October snow storm and some freezing temps that terminated the covers. Highly unusual. If not for that we could have had a couple more weeks of growth on the interseeded covers as well. Would have definitely been some worthwhile grazing.
