It's been a bad year for allotments. Everything has been delayed or not flourished. So pleased when I saw you on the news Mothin helping to sort out your community problems. Good man!

May Allah reward all your hard work; both in the garden and politically. Everything is behind for me also; that is what wasn’t slugged, blackflyed, etc.

Definitely my worst year so far, but... I'm zen about it. The garden is my therapy. Small rewards are still rewards. I'm still having tremendous fun and keeping myself healthy mentally and physically. Can't really ask for too much more! Lovely to see you back Mothin!

It’s been a hard year all over! Here in SE USA, I lost most of my garden to Hurricane Debby, 14” (355mm) of rain in two days. Now it’s on to planning my fall garden, just move forward. Your flowers look lovely!

Same story here the rain has been unbelievable this year. On one day we had 105ml which is a new record I think and caused lots of flooding in cities. Then it's rained on and off since then and caused blight on tomatoes and potatoes albeit at least the potatoes had flowered and produced some tubers, not harvested them yet.

I feel your pain. Being somewhat disabled I have 4 raised beds I use, twice I've either planted seeds or young veg plants in them and twice the local family of foxes have dug the lot up 😢. I don't begrudge what the foxes have done, it's just their foxy nature I guess. My neighbour kindly made a cover for one of my bed so i got plenty of salad leaves on the go and fingers crossed some small squash. Fingers crossed we all have a much better year next year

It’s been a decent year for me, but I planted less than I should’ve planted. Still, your garden is 90% better than most so be grateful for that

It’s good to see you again. The slugs really are a menace this year. I’ve also had massive problems with squirrels eating everything. Your broad beans are huge and prolific!

It's certainly been a bad year.. My broad beans had rust, all my first earlies rotted, my maincrops have been eaten by slugs, something ate my onion tops, I've picked barely any tomatoes and chillies so far but.... I can't give enough runner beans and courgettes away. 🤣 Broccoli has been the winner though, it's been so productive and just keeps coming!

Its been a crazy year here in Wales Mothin. Our outdoor tomatoes (dozens) all had big green tomatoes just about to turn and blight hit last week. Probably only do indoor ones in future, it is so heartbreaking

Welcome back Mothin. We’ve been watching out for your videos. Everything here in South Wales is behind too. But we’ve had a good year for Broad beans and peas. Apples too. All the gourd types are well behind. Looking forward to your next post.

Good to see your video again. Hope you and your family are safe and well. I have struggled with beetroots again this year. Runner beans are slow, but blackfly free, thank goodness. Courgettes are setting, but then get end rot. I have only got 3 small raised beds, and tried baby sweetcorn for the first time this year. Don't think I will bother again due to small return. Never sure what and how much to prune out of my tomatoes. Well, my wife looks after them actually. Once again, thank you for your video. Barry from Essex.

I agree, the garden should be thriving and lush but sadly a lot of the stuff in my garden is straggly as if it's seeking for some sun. My small back yard has no shade and yet my veggies/flowers are not doing well. Plus this constant wind from the West is drying everything out!!!

Mashallah lovely garden, The war with sluggs this year is at it's peak. I had to put butternut squashes three times and they all got decimated sadlly had to put some slugs killer palets to get something growing really tough . All the best

My garden was a washout too this year... The veg that survived the torrential rain and flooding , all bolted due to the strong heat straight afterwards. My aubergines are the same. The light has also been wrong, nothing has developed as there was very little sunlight for months. now the daylight hours are declining, it's unlikely to make a difference. I have given up TBH... try again next year.

I’m in SE Northumberland I’ve not had much rain. My plot is on a clay pan so my plants usually have enough water deep down to survive 🤞 I find some crops thrive in drought or heavy rain. So we always get good harvests of something. Must say the weeds survive no matter the climate 🫣 each year I get different harvests I must say I’ve not had the slug damage everyone else has had 🤞 it continues but I water my plants carefully. Water the plant not the whole ground.

My courgettes have a cane frame built for them, now mid August they are barely 3 foot tall, doubt very much if they will do anything this year. Tomatoes just cropping at the start of this month ..very late Lettuce however looking great. hope it picks up for you. Thanks

One quick question I have emptied out all of my pots that had vegetables growing in them, and was wondering if I could save the compost for next year? I don’t have room for a compost bin and was wondering if I could save the used compost in black plastic bin bags? How would I do it. Thank you in advance, and God bless you and your family 🙏
@MyFamilyGarden

You can save that compost, if you're going to store it maybe add some veg scraps to it then bag it and allow the scraps to break down over winter take a look at this kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIOmhXWmgJ50i7c
