ahhh so glad you enjoyed All Fours! it is quite the mom book, but i was surprised by how much i related to it as July always knows how to capture all the awkward and insecure ways we move into adulthood! also SO JEALOUS of the Intermezzo arc!!! 😭

im finishing up cursed bread rn and i completely agree with you! it’s hard to follow and just not quite what i was expecting. i always feel better when i hear someone else say what im thinking about a book that seemingly everyone else loved. i love your videos sm! btw youre so gorg 💛 you look so much like madeline argy

ok my other reply was WRONG LOL. the book is set in the 50’s based on the actual French town that was poisoned / went crazy. it actually makes way more sense than being set in the 1800’s like i originally thought since theres movie theaters and such

i think she wrote the memoir for herself and for people who have been through it based on the dedication she wrote and not to entertain or move people who havent. i lost my boyfriend of 4 years and this book was great for me, its real and raw and shows the agony and truth behind the part of grief where life doesnt stop going even though yours has been crushed. its absolutely mind numbing to go through and trauma like that can strip the emotions out of you to survive

I am soooooo excited for A Language of Limbs. I ordered it from your part of the world as the buzz I’ve been seeing for it is amazing. The Intermezzo pre-talk rules and regs have been a bit odd here too. I’ve still not read my proof. Ha. Ps. I felt that moment when you’d recorded and you mic hadn’t been on.

Loved hearing your thoughts on all these books, and I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Intermezzo! I’m so curious to hear about what it’s like to work in a bookshop (my dream job), especially as someone who makes book content. Does it give you more ideas or make you feel more restricted? Do you feel like your entire world is books (could be good or bad I suppose)?

I’ve never considered Miranda July books to be “mumsy” regardless of the plot! The writing must have been a surprise for you! 😅 have you read The First Bad Man or No One Belongs Here More Than You? Highly recommend both if you like her writing style! Also apologies if you have read them, new sub here :)
