Glad you enjoyed it. I got that pulcherrima about 3 years ago when I started the channel. It’s a very slow grower. I do have another 2 pulcherrimas that I got about 5 years ago in the flea market. They used to be very popular here. You don’t see them as much anymore.

You should try Motes Pixie Dust, I have 2 in my med size wardian case and they're always in bloom plus they stay small and would be an awesome addition to your Vanda Branches..mine are just hanging by a wire, roots go down about 24 inches to the bottom tray but don't seem to get much longer. I absolutely love them, one is an orange color, the other more green in color. And sorry to be late again, please tell my Dr. to let me have your video days away from his clutches. 😂😅 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 keeping it green Nelson....💚

I will look into getting one for my mini Vanda sculpture. I do love the pixie dust colors. Yellow and pink are a great combo in orchids. Thanks for the recommendation.

Seeing all your beautiful orchids is a nice escape so thank you for sharing your greenhouse and yard with us ❤. I am a recent subscriber so don’t know if you have ever talked about what measures you take to protect all your “babies” when a tropical storm or hurricane is approaching south Florida. Thanks! 😊
@naturenel2 ай бұрын
Welcome aboard! Thank you for joining the channel. I don’t ever talk about the “H” word because I’ve had my share of destruction and chaos due to hurricanes. But when it does arise, I bring all my orchids inside my enclosed terrace that protected by a wall of Areca palms. Areca palms are great for hurricane shielding. Unfortunately we live in a state prone to crazy weather. We enjoy our outdoors as much as we can. But when tragedy strikes, we just rebuild again.
@shirleytaylor92672 ай бұрын
@@naturenel thanks for replying! I understand completely about destructive tropical weather. We have dealt with plenty of storms and damage here in east central FL and some hard winter freezes as well. Moving 15+ orchids indoors is easy compared to the size of your collection! 🙏 🩷

Same here. We had a heatwave during the international orchid show and then it just kind of cooled down. Today is actually pleasant outside for July. My orchids are in heaven.

WOW. What a fantastic surprise to see one of your delightfully entertaining videos to watch this July 4th morning. I'm so happy about this!!! Got the coffee and I'm in my favorite chair walking through the garden with you. FYI....I have my sun orchids in large clay pots filled with lava rock or stalite. I moved them into our lanai into our shade cloth covered growing area. They haven't flowered, but I am now hopeful. They were just not looking healthy out in the heat/sun that we are experiencing here now (due to climate change). They are much healthier under the shade cloth. Thanks for sharing another great video with us.
@naturenel3 ай бұрын
Yup! The sun has been very intense on the orchids. My Vandas were not happy in the heat. The sun orchids were dehydrating. But now everything seems happier and greener. I’m happy to see new spikes growing in the new area.
@remaeburney8323 ай бұрын
Do not apologize for the rain drop sound. I grew up on a tobacco farm. It brings back pleasant summer memories. Sometimes if a short rain popped up while we were in the field, it cooled everything off and it felt so good and refreshing. I actually love a good walk in the rain 🌧️.
