My wife bought me a Garmin Instinct Solar as a Christmas present and I've just found your channel. Your videos are great, you communicate and explain things very things very well. Thanks for posting them, you've demystified the watch and I've picked so much up from your videos in just a few days since owning the phone, thanks.

Thanks for this series. Basically picking and choosing these instead of reading the manual / watching Garmin’s videos for my new Instinct Solar.

Came to this video to learn another Instinct feature and was pleasantly surprised to find that you are a fellow Bobcat...although it was Southwest Texas State for me. Appreciate the Instinct videos.

Theres one big letdown that..you are limited to around 50 waypoints that means basically you can do 50 direction changes no more. If you ride bike for around 30 km you get to the limit easily and therefor have to devide a route to smaller ones than see that each doesn t have to many turns (count turns) att to the device and then when you ride have to change the course to the next one. Which all in all is a huge hassle. You can use the watch therefore only for short trips …if you want to use it for a daytri its no use anymore. Bad suprise for me after buying-

make the course in garmin explore and use snap feature. then you can do a bunch of turns for a single waypoint.

Looking at the bottom information on the LCD, isn't the "F" and "8" cut a bit due to the edges of the screen? I've seen one comment saying that it does not happen in the non Solar model. Any thoughts on this one? Thnx.

Not directly related but... I'm going on a mulit day trek and want to be able to see my route when I return to civilization. I'm using the Live Track function so others (and myself) can follow my trip. How can I save this past the 24 hour deadline so that I can view it a week later when I return? Thanks as always.
@JUMBLE20153 жыл бұрын
If you go into your live track settings on your phone there should be an option for "Extend Session Visibility", that should allow it to be visible for 24 hours after the fact. But you are right, that is the max for Live Track. As far as seeing your route, why not just use GPS and save the activity. That should allow you to see the map/route forever. You could use Ultra Trac to extend battery life or if you have the solar do an "Expedition" as your activity and it should get you thru several days. Just an idea. Enjoy your trek!

I have just ordered the Garmin Instinct. Just wanted to look if you can quickly compare the newly launched Amazfit T-Rex pro. Should I cancel the Garmin or stick with it. In India, currently Instinct is Rs. 21,000 while the T-Rex Pro is Rs. 13,000. That's quite a difference. If you can help with this, that would mean a lot.

i think instinct is a better choice, i bought him few months ago and is awsome, simple and comfortable. You have navigation with Instinct , it means you can import sam gpx.doc on it and follow it while you hike. Not sure if T-rex have that.

Great job, but when you sink your watch on express do you use a usb or Bluetooth?
@JUMBLE20153 жыл бұрын
I just use Bluetooth. The only time I ever pull out my USB is to charge or do an update via Garmin Express.

For me, Courses is not the first thing when you press the menu button while in an Activity. This is the first time my watch has not matched your video. Crazy. Tried it your way and it didn't work. Now I'm interested why. I will be digging through this. Thanks for the inspirations.

Hi! I've bought garmin instinct tactical 2021. I used trail running mode with altimeter and I found sth bad. It does not calculate height in right way. Comparing with fenix 5, instinc determined 1.5x more height than fenix 5. Did you have any issue like that? Could you solve it? Thanks a lot!

Good Morning I hope you can help me. when doing a path on my instinct, I missed a point on the map and didn't go back. when doing this, the clock never gave me the correct route data, as it fixed on the point on the map that I didn't get to do. will there be any way to remedy this problem?

I noticed when using the navigation feature on the instinct, no elevation data appears when the activity is synced to Strava. The elevation data did show up in Garmin Connect though. Any idea?
@brynhendry289910 ай бұрын
The other way to do it is to get a strava subscription and then you can browse courses made by other people and sync them to your watch.

If im going on a long hike carrying a 50lb Bergen, can i enter this weight into the set up, and will it be accounted for in calories burned ect.. ? Ive not got my Garmin instinct yet but im just curious.

Hi Mark, there is not really a way to di this. I did this video just as an idea. . . but up to you as if you want to try it. Thanks for watching, I hope this helps. - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKCaXqiYa6t4i7s

@@JUMBLE2015 my mate reckons it doesnt matter as you can tell from your heart rate on how many calories your burning, but i think if your fit and keep a balanced heart rate thats not going to show.

What If I have a gpx file? Can I load that onto my Garmin Instinct Solar?
@JUMBLE2015 Жыл бұрын
Yes you can. I don't know if there is an easier way to go it, but I load them into the Garmin Explore app then sync it to my Instinct so that they get pulled into the Instinct. This might help - kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2imdayul7B7rbM

@@JUMBLE2015 I manaed to find a way... I created my GPX in Fatmaps and then in the desktop version of garmin connect, training > Courses > Import. And I would fine tune it again, adding any additional POI to it and then finally exporting it to the mobile version, which would need to be connected to the device via Bluetooth. So, pretty much similar

Hello, good morning, does the gps work regardless of whether any activity is selected? that is, if you are riding a bike and you just want to know my current speed, will the gps show me?
@JUMBLE20152 жыл бұрын
You would have to be in an activity. The GPS will basically only work if you activate it (either by saving a location, doing an activity or navigating). So if you were riding your bike and want to be able to see your speed, you would need to start an activity (make sure speed is one of your data fields and GPS is enabled for the activity), then stop the activity once you are done. Hope that helps and answers your question.
