I've never heard the term neutral before, but it makes sense. Love these nerdy skate videos. I enjoyed this and damn that janky looking mistrial at the end made me laugh 😭

Great to hear someone teach tricks with a high level of standards, and also tell what NOT to do. Most video tutorials are by people who don’t even do the trick properly or fluently themselves.
@cmousdale3 жыл бұрын
nice - i like tutorials with depth to them - Only thing I would say is to discuss the implications of the difference between where you jump from, and where you put your main balance points etc.
@jumboblading3 жыл бұрын
I did all this off the top of my head and after I was done realized how much I didn't talk about. I might actually write notes for the next one, but yeah, good point. Didn't even discuss landing goomba.

Always thought farside and darkside was the same thing until this video. Great video Cody!
@jumboblading3 жыл бұрын
Good to hear from you dude! And yeah, that distinction gets kinda blurry when it comes to rails. Ledges are a little more straight forward on what is farside is what is darkside. If we're using a ledge as an example, topside on the "wrong" side of the ledge would always be darkside, whereas non-topside tricks on the "wrong" side of the ledge would be farside. That'd be a fun video to make too.

Only allowed exception for a two step topsoul is R. Spizer's topsoul. He always put his fast slide first if you noticed. But he does it in a very stylish manner.

Thanks for that. Hope you do some more of these. Nice setup. Real nice. Love a black boot with white frames. Those plates look good on the CJs.
@jumboblading3 жыл бұрын
They are shockingly good. Usually plates like that would be a bit flexy because they don't fit exactly, but the boot is so stiff that it works really well. No weird flex points and the added width of the soul pl8's makes groove tricks a bit easier. I could rant, I'm going to try not to, haha

@@jumboblading Well, since you offered..do you know the difference between the Roces M12 and M12 Lo? It’s really hard for me to get a grasp of what isn’t the same besides the lower cuff. But I’ve heard that the M12 Lo has harder polyurethane and “better” wheels and liner? Basically I’m waffling between the black/yellow M12 Inline Warehouse exclusive or the new M12 Lo Nils Janson Storm.
@jumboblading3 жыл бұрын
@@omegamanGXE hmmm. M12s are the one skate that I can’t fit my foot in. But based off of what I’m reading, (and I could be wrong) the only real difference is the cuff. Having a lower cuff will give you a bit more flex. It’s kind of hard to describe via text. I dont think the difference between the two is drastic enough to change how you’ll be skating though, so any pick will be a good pick. Sorry that was a terrible answer 😅

I would love to learn something about grabs, what counts and what doesnt, and when its advisable to add grabs (each 180, into grinds, out of grinds, every jump, ...)
@jeffsawyer3 жыл бұрын
Great video Cody & Ant. I think it's easier to just say that for "grinding" tricks, you're not doing the grind if you're not sliding. The whole point of a "grind" is to slide, not to roll -- unless it's like a wheelbarrow or something ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. The whole darkside/neutral thing was interesting, but I'm definitely guilty of jumping from those positions to make the "top soul" easier. :)

Exactly! Happy you liked it dude! I think there's a lot of terms, like neutral, that we don't use often enough.

I really must build a nice coping box. Can't be fucked to learn/practise topsides on flat ledges.

Coping boxes are wayyyy easier, but learning on a ledge is good too if you want to really get it dialed. That's how I learned, I didn't know boxes existed back then. It'll reinforce really leaning out and committing every time. But!.... Had I of known boxes existed, I would have built one so quick, haha

I never commented on this video because I assumed then you would go into more detail for different objects. Like the round coping ledges for ME are extremely easy to topside compared to an angled ledge. I can sweatstance like its my job on round coping ledge. Angle iron ledges Ill slam my hips like its my career.

@BladeGeeks3 жыл бұрын
I really enjoy this kind of content very much. If I was a little bit more productive and a better skater I wish to take a similar approach with my "Blade Geeks" channel. We need to get away from the consumer culture that focuses too much on products (e.g. 100 skate models which are all kinda similar) and value more a culture of blading as an "art form" and culture. Thanks for your work. Florian (Germany)
@jumboblading3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Also, you definitely should do videos like that. I really do think rollerblading needs more content that isn’t just tricks timed to a song. We definitely have a culture, but there really isn’t a way to find out about it unless you skate with people that are already in it. People in big cities will probably think “well meet some people then, that’s no problem,” but there are sooo places that maybe only have one or two skaters. I think this kind of stuff is important to have for that reason.
