Hey Adam- nice video! I was learning the other day in a volleyball class that in the second last step to bound in landing "heel-toe". I was wondering when paralleling this idea here (i.e. to the second last step of the approach) do you recommend this idea of landing "heel-toe" as you 'bound in' to gather yourself?

Which is better? Jumping off one leg or two legs? I used to be a one legged jumper and had knee issues with my jumping (left) knee. I started jumping both legs instead and don't nearly have as bad knee pains, which is better? Was I just jumping wrong?

@Vertfreak101dotcom Great video! Can I ask a question. I tend to jump higher with my left leg when jumping off of one leg. I noticed in all 2 feet dunking vids, they tend to take one huge step before they plant themselves and jump. Should my strong leg be the one i use when taking the big step? Will that give me a slightly higher vert, or it does not matter? Thanks:))

@Luraj7 It's kinda like being left handed or right handed with writing... You typically get use to one or the other, but doesn't mean you can't learn both.

@ShootTheShot14 жыл бұрын
@TheKingSovereign Exactly with your last stride from your plant being typically longer than your approach steps... reason being is you have built such momentum that you need to cover a bit of ground to successfully take it vertical... They key isn't the distance of your 3rd stride, but the SPEED. You do not want to lose momentum, but at the same time you do not want your core to give way and have forward lean at take off.
@ShootTheShot13 жыл бұрын
@Zeeploox be more observant. I have atleast 20 videos on here of my jumping,a s well as each part of the technique. I give you examples from an athlete that is learning here for many reasons. My technique is way to advanced for you to really get an understanding of it by watching because of the speed I use. I'm sorry my "FREE" videos don't suffice for you. You don't need to be spoon fed here. This video has helped a TON of people, use this info or don't but I think I do a pretty good job

@workhard9 Adam was a 7x Division 1 ACC High Jump Champion and Olympic Qualifier in the event. He concentrated on track in college, and didn't play bball
@ShootTheShot14 жыл бұрын
@babyheat23 You don't sit back like in a chair, but you dont fall forward either. Typically around a 1/4 to 1/2 squat position. Pretty much going down applies power but decreases speed... the idea is to find how far down you can go, while keeping the explosive speed necessary to go vertical. It can vary based on the athletes make up.

@Tommmaaah Your typical strength program (squats, Deadlifts, bench, Military press) and weighted core work, including weighted leg lifts, and weighted planks/stability movements should get you on the right track.

Is it possible that you can read minds :p?Yesterday evening I thought of sending you a PM on how to jump off two feet, because I'm a one-foot jumper and want to be able to master both methods and today I opened up my mailbox and saw the newsletter with this video. Great man, thank you! One question, do two-foot-jumpers really have a benefit over one-foot jumpers? Because they can use twice the strength, but then again, they don't have the advantage of the leverage foot which happens in the 1ft..

My problem is i can BARELY touch rim with a one-step jump but when i run or sprint towards the basket i get the same results, My goal is to dunk by next year. But what would help to get some fast results? Im 5'11 or 6 depending on shoes.
@joebill51369 жыл бұрын
Learn to jump. A full sprint is often inefficient and you definitely won't be strong enough to convert that full sprint too vertical power. Their isn't any super fast results, I mean you can learn to jump from this guy and get a couple inches, but hardcore results come from training. Get a gym membership and squat deep. Search stronglifts or starting strength and try that out and go from their. It will help out on strength a lot and without a good strength base, you can't hope to improve a lot.
