Absolutely DL. Stoked on every sec of this JUMPS STREET PODCAST with Brian Shima but 1:16:39 - 1:18:34 is what its all about. BRINK - SOUL SKATERS!! Love it! I'm 31 and growing up watching Latimer/Yost in the Xgames just hucking. Brian Shima, Haffey, Aragon, Morales, Broskow, Stockwell, Farmer... So many greats but the ones that did it first or were passed a torch around that millennial era when I was 11/12 y/o skinning my knees, palms, and bows I wanted to emulate. My crew back in the day had daily bread magazine and we'd watch the Killteam Senate - Project Mayhem VHS all the time b4 skating. "MOP-COLD AS ICE" - that Billy Prislin section. Montre Livingston winning the Bitter Cold Showdown in 09' carrying Brian Shima's torch is awesome. IMO there couldn't be a better ambassador of the sport. I wish USD would make his pro skate again - those 2015'ish dread lock Carbon Free's were amazing but I could never find them in my size. And then in 2010, Chris Haffey after a decade of trying finally won his first Bitter Cold Showdown. I love watching that contest because of Matt Mickey and Arlo Eisenberg calling the event - but mainly the level of skating that I don't think has been topped since. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGq0nGCpibp7j6c Shima's 360 Disaster Soul To Fakie Out (the hard way for STEAZE!!) @@Habeev07 love your comment. I got love for anyone that loves bkading with a passion. I skated 95-02 , 09 to 15 and I'm still on them on and off these days. Skate my curb out front with my son. When I was at my best in the early 2000s I had actually totally withdrawn from the culture, so I missed alot of shima early stuff as well the entire mid 2000s .I grew up in senate and medium and 976 and was hard into it as a kid. I missed ALOT of the hoedowns and a ton of bitter cold, basically all of IMYTA etc . But I've gone back and caught up since. Thise Montre USD you mentioned I swear he had a similar SSM boot. I still have my bloodline 3s altho I'm skating my old gen 7 razors ALOT more these days. Funny you mentioned that Prislin section , man I loved Billy skating. Much love to you man. Stay on wheels

I don't think I've ever been more surprised by an interview as this. Growing up Shima was so quiet and so good at skating that I assumed he was an egomaniac. Habeev07 All great but Latimer, shima and Julio hold the Goat 🐐 status for me. In the haffey and Aragon era there were a number of contenders, broskow, farmer etc but there were no contenders for Latimer. Think Latimer did some of the most iconic tricks in the history of the sport.... 540 in the storm drain..... parallel alleyoop fish in the storm drain, the list is endless. Same for shima and Julio both created some of the most iconic memorable moments in the sports history that will never fade. No matter how many crazy hurricane to grinds are done a Julio fishbrain wins every time for me 🤣

Karl Watson was the skateboarder. He became a good friend. We used to hang out at hubbas in the dark when the crowds went away and smoke/drink and skate hubbas. He used to use my K2 Fatties and would try front sides and souls at EMB high AF! Those were good times. It was so insane between 95-98 we had to stay late and wait for crowds to die down to skate. I miss those days....

I started on rec skates. A kid who has long since quit joined me on this section of asphalt and then we exchanged numbers and I go over to his and there are 3 of them and we were all watching WDYBI, VG-19.. Got a pair of TRS and over a quite long and painful period I learnt the ropes. Idk why but I can remember that kids setup. He had white Shima 3s with red cuffs and he would always skate with the buckles not properly done up with all the innards hanging out (and a 3xl tee). I used to think if he did the buckle up he would probably have been better. Great memories.

Man that's an awesome interview and stories! Shima has always been such an influences for the whole industry, glad to see he's doing ok. Thanks guys for bringing this kind of stuff to the audiences, we really need this! And Shima should definately write the book, that will pass the relics to the following generations!
