you don't appreciate old skool trim sliders until you suddenly need FULL left trim on a maiden flight as your new pride and joy tries to corkscrew its way through the sky straight out the hand launch.

I have to agree... being able to whack full trim on with the flick of a finger was great -- but the 9XII has digital trims so you have to wait for it to go tick-tick-tick-tick :-(
@markpitts51942 ай бұрын
i loved the Multiplex 3030, analogue trims that you could after the flight convert to digital and recentre the trim lever. I hate the modern ticky ticky trims. If you fly old balsa, the trim changes week to week. the 3030 system was spot on.
@nanomiterctech4232 ай бұрын
No offense, but if you need to make a full trim adjustment during the maiden flight, it suggests a lack of experience.

@@nanomiterctech423 Sorry... but thats rubbish. I have known wood and tissue airframes that would need huge trim changes one week to the next. Traditional airframes move around. Granted the modern foam and or composite stuff is way more stable, but I get the feeling that is all you know ?

I started out with an orbit 12 Channel reed system on 27 mhz. Man, I hated CB radios back then. Caused a crash of my just finished Falcon 56 with a brand new K&B .35. Completely smashed, bent the crankshaft and damaged the receiver. The reeds were humming when we made it to the splinter and crater site. Gave up until Futaba came out with a somewhat proportional pulse system. Then kids... that ended that for a while! Thanks to Flite Test I started back with hobby foam and man that is so fun! Thanks for the look back in time!

I have nothing against the new stuff. I fly radiomaster with some planes, but with nitro I always go with the 72mhz pcm gear. I'm picky with what I use, and make sure it's all good, but I just trust the stuff. You can plug it in and go fly, no fiddling. I haven't had any problems with it since I got back into the hobby almost 4 years ago. Futaba 9c and an old Super 7 are my favorites. One thing that's nice with the older stuff is that it didn't brown out with the batt go low. I think right now is a prime time to fly 72 because no one is on it anymore.

One other thing the T15 has up it's sleeve is those 6 buttons on the front that light up can be customised so that they are more than basically a a 6 position knob... you can group them however you want, make them mutually exclusive or be able to turn on more than one at a time, or even make them momentary.

I'm an RC car racer coming back into this after a break, been going now a couple of years but I had a stark realisation that open-ness in the TX/RX space is dead. You could use any RX with any TX back in the day, whereas now there are too many proprietary standards that seem to be changed for no obvious reason other than planned obsolesce. I really wish the manufacturers would get together and work on agreeing a means to either standardise or have a jumper or setting that allows proprietary mode to be disabled (And whatever benefits they say they've put in) so it'll work with open standards if the user wishes it.

It is only a 6 channel but I was using it as a computer game ( simulation RC plane ), the game doesn't work on windows 10. ( no chance on win 11 ). The only thing wrong with the controller is the battery, being, what, about a quarter of a century old. ( Haven't had any planes to fly for about that long or time to get to it. Hey Bruce, Have you tried flying Mode 3? When I first started flying quads, a workmate told me that I should use Mode 1 in Australia, just in case someone else had to take over. I tried Mode 1, but it felt wrong, and I just couldn't fly a quad with it. Then I tried Mode 3, which is still right-hand throttle, but having aileron and elevator on the same stick felt more natural to me. It's what I use for planes, too. It baffles me that whoever decided we should use right-hand throttle, didn't just swap both functions of the Mode 2 sticks over!

Turns out it keeps the power to the external module powered to it kills the battery within a couple of weeks. I don't fly that much so I always have to revive my 18650 cells. I contacted Jumper when I found out this was a known bug and they said I'd have to change the main board and power board and it wasn't worth it and I should just buy a new one (it was out of warranty). I said why the hell would I buy another one when the first one is so crap and obviously wasn't tested. Anyway, it's useless now and I'll never buy another jumper.
