A tip on the hole saws. The slower you go the better for the blade and might help the batteries as well. If you find you are drilling a lot of larger holes like that in pipe it will be worth the investment in a 120v magnetic drill press. They are pretty expensive but are worth their weight in gold when doing a job with mech Tees. Good work on the replacement!

Go with the high capacity battery from Milwaukee 6.0 or higher . Your battery are over heating. We also using a cutting oil aerosol can (nonflammable) and slow ur drill speed. Let the bit do the work , you don’t need to lay on to hard. Just constant pressure. You do great, because ur a great tech. Great job. Commercial powerhouse mechanic , we work smarter , so we don’t have too worry harder.

Question is that schedule 10 black pipe? Typically pipe the pips like that from the inside out tend to be wrongly installed schedule 10 which is only appropriate for fire suppression which that water is not moving around which is what cause a dielectric pipe reaction due to dissimilar metals
@JumpermanTech2 ай бұрын
@dimaslespier2688 The old piping was schedule 40 and so was the new pipe that I installed. No dielectric fittings and no water treatment/maintenance could be in the mix here. There is a lot of rotting pipe around. The water is definitely moving around but not in the summer as the actuator valves are closed and they are using the chilled water for cooling. The water just sits there at that time. It's a very old building as well. Thanks for watching! 🔧⚡️

When you only create friction and overheat instead of cut away material with the hole saw, you actually harden the steel. So even with a fresh hole saw it struggles to finish it off

@trevorgroeneveld63622 ай бұрын
One more note. Running the drill at high speed will create a lot of heat and actually temper the steel making it much harder. We use a RIDGID HC450 Hole Cutting Tool and when it is in operation the drill speed is extremely slow which is by design
