Carty!! Thank you for the love of everything, you are the first artist I've come accross that finally says that the word evolution is bunk!! Every interview I've ever watched they always talk about their "personal evolution" and all I'm left thinking is this person has no clue! We change and ADAPT through limitation, I believe! thank YOU! ❤

I'm not a member YET (I will be), but I watch your videos and have read all your Substacks for a while now and I cannot believe ANYONE could find anything negative to say. But like you said, darkness always tries to dim our light. Good for you for being bigger than all of that and continuing to help thousands of people. Photography is not EASY and your content is a BLESSING. Thank you for keeping God in your business. Really Steve that’s how you’re feeling? I’ve said book me for a 15 minute chat before I’ll say to you again please book me for a 15 minute chat How did I reject you? When did I reject you? Was it something you said in my comments? Please don’t make it seem like I randomly reject people. I’m no gatekeeper. The only thing I hold is information And 33 years experience I am not the beginning or the end of this industry. I’m just one person person. I try to help everybody I truly do But the entitled , the attitude, and if I’m correct, and remembering exactly who you are, I know exactly why you’re here still trolling So Mr. Phelps I’m gonna give you one more opportunity to be nice here in my comments Or I’m gonna just block you from them and no one will ever be able to see them again Or I could just screenshot your comments from the last round and share them with this person who you’re trying to deter from me being able to help them Just because you have an attitude, it doesn’t mean everybody does

@@stevenphelps8625 I’m replying to your comment about me being some sort of a gatekeeper. I have no power to control anyone’s destiny. I do choose who I coach though. That’s a for sure. Any coach that doesn’t have a barrier to entry doesn’t have anything you can’t get for free. My time is valuable. As is yours. I don’t want to waste anyone’s. Read back what I replied to. If I mistook you for a troll it’s because of what you wrote. I help those that help themselves. “I seem to randomly reject people that really need my help” As if I’m an emergency doctor. I’m just a person. I do a lot. What evidence do you have that I randomly reject people? Randomly. There’s reasons for every rejection in life. Usually happens when someone doesn’t meet your expectations. In my case it usually happens when someone claims they want help but aren’t willing to learn or change what they’re doing. No one can Help that type of person. Don’t throw stones here.

I did think your last video was important and was very informative, but it was also perhaps coming from a place of having lost touch somewhat with the reality of most people in this country right now, and especially people who are on youtube looking for ways to improve their lives. Now, I made the same mistake as you early on, and bought a crop sensor camera for my first dslr after coming from shooting film. It was 2010 and researching things online to the point of fetishism before and after every purchase wasn't as much of a thing back then, and I did even know a crop sensor existed until I started shooting and realized something was different. I got so discouraged, being 21 years old and having just spent 1000, my biggest purchase ever at the time, only to be totally dissapointed and discouraged that I really was going to have to spend multiple thousands of dollars for a camera body alone to have a camera worth shooting. I should mention that I am first an oil painter, and a photographer in support of my painting, mostly shooting portraits of my friends, etc. and painting from them. I stopped shooting for the mosty part for years until I picked up a canon 5d mk2 off a pro photographer friend, it had been his backup and was fairly beat up but for 400 I picked it up, mostly to photograph my own paintings for documentation purposes. I had that camera for about 5 years and last summer I realized I hadnt gotten muich use out of it and that it was as old as it was and told myself I needed to get use out of it while it was in working condition. When I started shooting with it I got excited about photography for the first time in many years, and by the end of the year I ended up photographing a small wedding which more than payed for the camera, not by much, but it was the first time I had made money with my camera. I have sold multiple paintings and even recently broke the 5 figure mark for my highest sale, but I am still very much a frugal early career artist. After a year of shooting at concerts and festivals and the places I would have been anyway, but with only a phone camera, I feel like I have a quite nice portfolio of work, especially knowing that it was made on almost a 15 year old camera. In December i was shooting and the shutter motor finally went out. I 'upgraded' for me to a 5d mk3 and have recently been getting used to it and looking forward to the summer of shooting. That brings me to watching your video about gear, and knowing that my gear is far from the top of the line or state of the art, but between my glass that was handed down from my father, and having been shooting for over 20 years off and on, I was still excited about having a newer to me camera, until watching your video and now for whatever it is worth, I am feeling like I need to spend more money for more gear to feel like I have to please some guy on the internet that I have never met. Yes It makes sense for you, or Larry Chen, or Kym Illman or the like to have the top of the line gear, but the fact is that the majority of your target audience is going to be far from that, and I personally feel spoken down to and somewhat alienated by that video, more so than in any of your other videos. I really believe that for 90% of photographers, a full frame camera in the mid 20mp range, pared with the proper glass with adequate aperture is more than capable for anything most people will ever need. I totally understand you are speaking to your audience in a certain way for a reason, but I also think it is important to just give more actual practical photography information to provide real value to your audience. I joined at the $5 level this month to show some support, but motivational; speeches are not enough to keep me paying, or to want to possibly dive deeper with this particular community if i think this is the extent of what you have to offer. Basically, the camera gear video was at the same time your best and worst video, and I say this with the utmost respect. You can be confident without it coming across as self-righteous. And to be clear, I was in no way discouraged enough to not go out and photograph the sunset and an industrial area of town this evening, and I was thinking about this topic the entire time and debating whether or not to voice my own truth.

I have two mailing list I sent it every week I need to do is read the description you can find all kinds of different ways to participate. I have so many different ways to help you but I can’t do the work for you. You want beginner info? It’s not what I do here. Don’t find me, like me and want me to serve you in a different way. Don’t like my lecture style? Don’t watch. I have masterclasses. And thousands of hours of free content here. Voice your truth. Just realize I’m a person. I’m not here just to serve you. Read the room. Look how others respond to my content. If you’re at a different place, as we all are. A ok. Cameras are just tools. Make high frequency work. If you don’t want to continue with the $5. A ok. I bring value. If you don’t see it yet, it means you’re not ready for what I’m speaking about yet. At some point you will be. I’ve been doing this for 3 1/2 decades. Not into talking about beginner stuff anymore I’m just not I’ve spoke about it numerous times on my channel You literally wrote me a full novel, an essay It seems like you have something to say you need someone to listen My community lots of people there I’m there every day You can’t expect a treat my KZbin comments like an email
