Curtis we are here waiting for you. Don’t delay the kind of help I can give directly through my coaching. Look up coryvanderploeg.com he’s just one of the ones I downloaded my brain to. He’s working in NYC now as a fashion / portrait editorial shooter. Directly time with me speeds your progress 100x. Just wondering how valuable your time is. We don’t get any younger. I have people from 21 to 67 in my program. The older ones of us should be the ones that are in the rush! I do three podcasts a week and usually a video , a coach 70 photographers, I have a commercial photography business. Merch, two websites. Two newsletters. I’m 53. I’ll be 54 in three months. I’m competing with shooters in their 20s. I have a free photography community of over 800 photographers. I mention it every episode and the link is in every single video description. They share they interact. They learn there with me every single day. Are you in my Photography community on discord? I work currently like it’s my last day on earth.

This is such an informative video, thank you for making this. I struggle with getting paid clients, most people who would want to work with me only do so cause it’s free at the time.

create higher value work. it's a hard thing to hear but i've never had an issue getting people to pay me ... it is hard to hear but if you're making work that isn't valuable to anyone, there is no money there. look at behance.net and see what peoples portfolios look like within your niche. do you have a niche or are you shooting everything or anything anyone asks you to? no niche = generalist and generalists get no respect or money. if you had a $250k car, you'd hire a car photographer to shoot it. if you have a product you were trying to bring to market, you'd need a product photographer. if you were trying to release your solo business, you'd need a portrait or a headshot photographer to shoot new images for your business. if you know your market, it's super easy to market to them or solve a problem you know they have. are you solving problems or are you just taking pictures? thecartymethod.com i can teach you how to do this. i've done it for hundreds of shooters. i have a photographers community. are you in it? i have an education program for photographers. are you in it? i assisted working photographers. are you assisting? there is a route to doing this. but just watching youtube isn't it.

About the SEO, is it smart to change your google business name for: Editorial Portrait Photographer | Steve Carter? Did something similar and works well, but not sure if this hinders anything else.

Hey Carty - you look familiar. Were you ever at RPI in the 90s?

I was there. Never heard it called RPI. I was in stills from 1990-91. Dropped out. Got a studio. Started working. So yes. Me. I had dreads. Wanted to be Basquait.

Your videos are visually jarring because you choose to use a different frame rate than the entire rest of KZbin. It feels like 15fps. Just saying... You probably won't care 🤷
@stevecarty7 ай бұрын
i do care... framerate has been an issue with the m1 mac mini for a bit. i had to drop it to 30fps from 60 as i was getting too many frame drops. bumping this entire thing to a mac studio which will solve all my issues. it's happening sooner than you think. i've been doing this for 3yrs i see everything. thx for your headsup.
@stevecarty7 ай бұрын
i'll try going back to 60fps tomorrow to see if i get any lag. tune in at 6pm est
@rob0607 ай бұрын
@@stevecarty Ah ok. Couldn't tell if it was intentional or a hardware limitation. Glad an upgrade is on the way 👍
@stevecarty7 ай бұрын
no worries rob... getting a mac studio and crushing out this setup to a dream level. already the office / youtube space of my dreams for an at home space. i dropped $5k on these renos and building out these tables. (i also make wood things) so in order to support my mac habit, I'm creating a new offer which will pay for my mac studio and some more upgrades. i need support for 2 - 3 more cameras. another monitor and a bit of shelf space for growth. was holding out for the M3 mac studio but won't wait till fall or next year. you'll notice the difference the second i get it. i did go back to 60fps on lives since your mention. lmk if you notice an improvement or frame drops.
