I'll try to give a quick and dirty. Nico (Blurryface, the guy in the red) represents Tyler's struggles, dark thoughts, depression, and anxiety. He in one of 9 leaders called Bishops in the city of DEMA. When Tyler is in DEMA, he is in his dark thoughts, he's in his lowest moments. Trench is a location East (remember this) of DEMA, andserves as a transition to a location that represents hope and healing which has yet to be named, and is the ultimate goal of escaping from DEMA. Trench is the process of recovering. When Nico reaches Tyler, he paints his neck black, which is used to symbolize when Tyler is under the influence of his Blurryface alter ego. (watch any live shows or music videos from the Blurryface tour and album). You got the Throat and hands thing spot on. his neck is black to represent insecurity in his singing, and his hands are black to represent insecurity in his writing. If you notice in the video, when he breaks free from Nico and starts running. His neck isn't black anymore. Josh is the leader of the banditos, who try to rescue Tyler from DEMA. Tyler has tried to escape multiple times, represented by the car from Heavydirtysoul in a vicious cycle of breaking free and getting pulled back in. The jumpsuit is a kinda vague metaphor and isn't clearly defined, but it's mainly used as a barrier or safety net that Tyler puts between him and DEMA and Nico. The Banditos themselves are also a safety net in a sense, kinda like you can't break out of mental illness alone, you need your family and friends around you to help. As you'll notice, Tyler never puts yellow on himself, it's put on by the other people around him as he breaks free from DEMA. There's one more detail I'm intentionally leaving out about Trench until you hear all the songs. I'll try to remember to leave a comment on the video for Levitate about it.

That red rider on the horse is one of the 9 bishops of Dema. he represents his dark thoughts and the people in jumpsuit are banditos who escaped the dema.

You did pretty well for not having much in the way of the back story I think you know more of the backstory now from a lot of the comments You did good on the line about breaking his hands and lifting by his throat - meaning if the bishops are going to defeat him they'll need to find a way for him to stop making music - bc that's how he fights He also says "i can't believe how much I hate the pressures of a new place roll my way- jumpsuit jumpsuit cover me" - can be taken a million ways - the "new place" in the real world is the worldwide fame they achieved after Blurryface (they took a 3 year hiatus between albums) - it also could be referring to the storyline and him being afraid of this new world I think they pop back and forth between the heavydirtysoul video and this video when he's running because he has the confidence and remembers he has beaten these thoughts before (like he did in Heavydirtysoul) People at the top are Banditos who have beaten their negative thoughts and escaped - you'll see Josh and if you look really close you'll also see Tyler's wife - they offer him encouragement through the yellow flowers but in the end Tyler has to escape himself

Yes the comments have definitely explained and cleared a lot of things up. I noticed Josh and love how he is shown as one of the people helping Tyler through his struggles. But I did not know his wife is up there too, that is so cool!

the guy in red is Nico (aka blurryface - main bishop in Trench era) . When he touched Ty's neck he get him under his control (black paint on his neck) that represents control of insecurities over him. The people up on the cliff are the banditos, wearing yellow tape, who are trying to save Tyler ( represents his family and friends , that give him support(yellow flowers) to get out of this control), in the end of the video last man on the cliff is Josh.

You've pretty much got all the info here about the Bishops, but you might not know they're all named from lyrics of TOP songs (from the blurryface album). The album cover has 9 circles representing 9 of the songs, and when rotated to have East facing up, they line up with some clues the band gave us before Trench was released to give us which one represents which. The names are as follows: Lisden - "all i feeL IS DENial" (from Polarize) Keons - "choKE ON Smoke" (from Heavydirtysoul) Reisdro - "temperatuRE IS DROpping" (from Doubt) Sacarver - "she'S A CARVER" (from Tear In My Heart) Nills - "and beaten dowN, I'LL Slip away" (from Goner) Vetomo - "will they be aliVE TOMOrrow" (from Lane Boy) Listo - "we have a LIST Of people we would take" (from Ride) Nico - supposedly from Stressed Out, but no lyrics match (closest is nigo)

Yeah, you were pretty close. We basically had to see the video several times to understand all the references and meanings. Some things that you can also start connecting is the yellow from this video and the Heavydirtysoul video. Josh is wearing yellow, and is in the middle of the street, where the yellow lines are. Josh helps/saves Tyler at the end of the video. Here you can see the "banditos" (that's what the people dressed like him are called) throw yellow petals to help Tyler fight his dark thoughts (Blurryface/Nico). The breakdown for the reference of breaking his hands, and grabbing him by the throat was on point. And on the video you can actually see how the black on his throat (and hands) actually happen. I have no doubt that Tyler had this all planned out years and years ago. Probably even before he made the Blurryface album. There's so much material that he has put out for this story. That's one talented human being.

It was filmed in Ukraine. Also, trench is the area around the city of Dema. Dema represents his depression. The people on the hill represent the Banditos who are people who have helped in his fight against depression as are his support system. The yellow is a symbol of hope and the tape signifies rebellion Edit - it was filmed in Iceland, not Ukraine.

You caught a hell of a lot from your first listen. Especially as there's still a lot of Tyler's back story you're yet to get to. But yeah, Red Rider would be Nico, (which is an assumed personification of Blurryface- Tyler's Dark thoughts). Yellow a colour of hope, so yeah, guys at the top would be his support network and people who have escaped Dema (Dema being his dark place, which you'll get to in Nico & the Niners). The jumpsuit I always take as a metaphor for his support network, his creativity & his general public-front covering up the cracks within him. Great reaction.

When Nico puts his hands on Tyler, his neck has the same kind of black paint he put on his neck and hands before every show during the Blurryface tour. During the show, it would rub off and he'd clean it off at the end of the night, signifying every night that he was beating Blurryface. I love they they connected all that to this song/album. Tyler's lore/world building is insane!

Little detail: At about 5:20 when the Bishop puts the marks on his neck, you can see it take over his entire neck. But! When the Banditos throw the pedals down and he looks up at them just before he books it, you can see the black fade away Addition: A little later you make a good point about his throat and hands! During the Blurryface album, he states that the paint on his hands is because he’s insecure about what he writes and on his neck for “the feeling of suffocation”. Also, we believe this Bishop to be Nico who in some theories represents depression and teaches a religion called valisim witch is pretty much su•c•de. So I think here, he’s saying that if the Bishops want him to follow and “commit” to the religion, they have to destroy the things that give him hope

Josh is a bandito. Tyler's wife, Jenna and Tyler's brother are rumored to be dressed as banditos as well. The black paint smeared on the neck and the lyric about throat and hands is a reference to the Blurryface album when Tyler always had black on his hands and neck/throat showing his insecurities. Next video has several references you won't pick up on not being a fan of Ride and Stressed Out and you'll miss their brilliance and highly recommend you revisit those when you can.

The rider is Neco, heavy dirty soul was the last video they made off the blurryface album and it leads into the trench era...Neco and the niners can't see yellow and yellow represents hope as well...and the folks up top are the banditos trying to help Tyler out of the trench(levitate) that leads to dema...I d do a little research bro..Neco and the niners has a ton off stuff in the song and in the video..TON!! You did very good. This series of videos are for sure visual, but to me the video and lyrics help explain each other. Like, if you listen to the song alone, you might get some of it. With the video it either confirms or clarifies what you thought. I think I started liking the song and understanding it once I had the picture from the video in my head. I think you were very close, if not spot on. There is a lot of backstory, but if you got this close without all the backstory, then I'm very impressed!

It's not specifically the flowers representing the support, it's the color yellow. In heavydirtysoul, the car falling apart represents his mind getting broke down by his anxiety, but at the end of that video the car is fixed, meaning that it's a day to day struggle. Here he gets caught again by the bishop (his anxiety), but the video is ending with him taking his coat with the yellow stripes, representing again that it is a day to day struggle of his (my opinion)

The jumpsuit is the rebels uniform it shows that they are going against the control of Dema or the bishops and the jumpsuit also represents protection if you take him in this song yelling at the jumpsuit to cover him and in Nico and the niners he says when he’s heavy aka wearing the jumpsuit he feels higher aka more protected but when he’s not wearing it he feels lower Or unprotected just how a jumpsuit protects firefighters from fire he’s using it to protect him from his inner demons

Great insights having been your first viewing. I always assumed that the video was jumping between now and the past, that it's all part of the same timeline. I'm basing that on the fact that Tyler grabs the same jacket out of the trunk as he's wearing in the trench and that his hair has grown out as well.
