My family is full of men over 50 who think they have retired. They just ..... eat, sleep, repeat, and try to advice young people on matters they don't even understand in the first place themselves. And then they act old. Which is even absurd. Like, come on, you're just 55. You're not dying of old age man.

The old people in subcontinent are stubborn in their ways too. They think they know better or are wiser just coz they're older. In the rest of the world there is better balance between youth empowerment and experience of the elderly in different areas of life. The young ones are valued for ingenuity whereas in the subcontinent you bring something new you get reactions like "ye kahan hota hay", "pagal hogai ho?". Just coz their 'baap dada' used to do something one way, they will refuse to try out other ways of doing things

Its important to highlight that Average age in South Korea in 2023 is 42.6 years and is projected to be 62 yeats by 2070s. Where is Pakistan has average age of 22.5. South Korea is facing scarcity of young workers and they have no choice to make older people work. Whereas in Pakistan, we have millions of jobless young people while old people are still taking jobs in most sectors. Birth rate in South Korea is alarmingly low (0.77 per woman). This is one of the biggest challenges they are facing.

Dear Junaid.. In india things have changed... especially in Metros & Mini Metros.. We do witness several people beyond 60 working , not due to compulsion but due to excellent health , ability to travel & willing to share the experience , wisdom . In fact , there are few placement agencies who are focused on senior citizen placement opportunities.

Let's not even talk abt the main depositions that the elderly have to work in. How about engaging in something that's creative, that they could do from the comfort of their home, without being time bound & subsequently making a buck out of it. I remember few decades back it was common for elderly men/women to stay busy by doing art craft, wood work, pottery, reading & writing literature. If that was not their field of work they'd engage in livestock business physically or cognitively which would all be worth it since they are no longer worried abt bread & butter past that age. But these days young, old alike, majority are putting their time to waste, all of them being consumers in every aspect & not prroducing.

In Pakistan people don't get retired because they want to but they have to,they don't have any other option! In West they retire when they want to mostly(when they feel they have enough retirement funds in their bank acc).

Retirement age in South Korea is still 60, compared to 65-67 in the West even today. People retired at 55 in South Korea, at least 25 years back, at least in the private sector. Older people working can be seen in Singapore, and the government contributes some extra money to them for working beyond retirement age. It seems odd seeing the really old, slow, man/woman working among young, energetic, fast, crew of a fast food branch while the older man is the janitor.
@lovereachable9 күн бұрын
Pakistan and India are very young countries unlike European countries like Germany and Italy. So, the youth gets more work opportunities at the expense of senior people. And one can't expect people to work in one job all.their lives and retire in the same job. 🌺 🌿

The perks you are mentioning are for those who have the opportunity to make money. They are the ones who can have separate account for their retirement life or have money for travel and other s... these perks are not for those who just make around 60 or 70 Thousan Rupees. They are old, we have to accept it. We are giving examples of Singapore, Korea.... they have job opportunities there, and we have nothing here except Stress and anxiety. In Pakistan, we have to think a thousand times to put food on the table for the next meal of the day, and you are recommending them to have a separate retirement account.

Junaid bhai, South Korea ke elders ka kaam karna unki resilience zaroor dikhata hai, lekin asal masail ko ignore nahi karna chahiye. Wahan ka capitalist aur individualistic system family aur community values ko kamzor kar chuka hai. Iska nateeja hai: Low Birth Rates aur Aging Population: Fertility rate sirf 0.78 (2022), duniya ke lowest mein. Elders ke High Suicide Rates: Poverty aur isolation ke sabab duniya mein sabse zyada. Youth Depression aur Consumerism: High stress aur overwork ki wajah se youth bhi struggle kar rahi hai. Islamic values ek collective aur empathetic welfare society ka model pesh karti hain, jo in masail ka hal ho sakta hai. Lekin aap hamesha Islam ko criticize karte hain aur doosri societies ke flaws chhupa lete hain. Jaise, pehle aap kehte the ke Pakistani airhostess budhi hain, lekin is video mein khud bata diya ke baaqi jaga bhi aisa hota hai. Yeh contradictions aapki baaton ki seriousness ko kam karte hain.

South Asia has a huge youth unemployment issue, unless there is early retirement we cannot have full productive employment. On the other hand Japan and South Korea have shrinking population. Critical analysis of demography and declining birth rates is required before making any assumptions.

Youth isn't supposed to be working as clerks or cashiers they are young energetic and probably free from responsibilities that fall on their shoulders in later years they should be studying trying new things making mistakes learning from them and thinking about innovations.
