A small correction about the signal for parallel parking. Hazard lights are not allowed, and you are supposed to turn on direction indicator. So for example if you want to parrallel park on the left side or even if you are searching for parking on left side (specially on a two lane single direction street) you turn on the left indicator, so the car comming behind you knows you will slow down and stop, and of its a multilane street he will look for chance to overtake you instead of waiting for you to move along. Atleast this is so in here in Germany.
