The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Thank you. I love June Allyson, she was an outstanding entertainer. She came across as a truly loving human being even though she worked in a very phony, cut throat business. Her humility and authenticity set her apart as a rare human being.

Good News is one of my all-time favorite movies and seeing June at 53 reminisce about the old M-G-M days singing these wonderful songs MADE MY DAY, PERIOD!!! 😍😍😍

Me too. She looked fantastic and her voice was spot on. I really miss the REAL entertainers. They had talent and many of them, like Junie, were nice people when the cameras were not rolling. So unlike today. Anybody with a TikToc account is a star!

June never had much of a voice but she was cute which is why she was in all those musicals.

Concur....based on her singing, never understood how she rose to such prominence at MGM with so many vocal performances...especially the studio using her initially as a threat to Judy Garland as her replacement. 'Cute' girls were a dime a dozen to the Hollywood studios, so had to be another more substantial reason.

June had a wonderful voice it was just not a traditional voice. There were and still are a lot of cookie cutter voices out there. And we've come to find out in later years that several of the old Hollywood actresses were dubbed such as Leslie Caron in Gigi and Natalie Wood in West Side Story. And even in the 80s and 90s like Johnny Depp in Crybaby and Renee Zellweger in this movie called Shake Rattle and Rock.

@@PrincessJax268 - "We" haven't come to find anything out - YOU came to find it out...a belated welcome to the club is therefore extended to you for joining the rest who already knew that Hollywood has been pre-recording and dubbing singers for almost as long as movies have had sound. Quit lying that June had a 'wonderful' singing voice; she didn't. Too many people think that just because they like somebody, that person can do no wrong or has no shortcomings. The quality of Allyson's singing vis a vis her Hollywood peers is apparent and speaks for itself. Lying because you personally like her movies changes nothing.

@BRUCE BIDER - The nasty, snotty tone of your post is apparent and speaks for itself, too.

@@waldolydecker8118 The only time I ever heard that June was ever used as a threat to Judy came from Judy herself. It was on the "Tea for Two" segment of her TV show, and typically Judy, everyone seemed to be plotting against her. Judy may have been kidding. June turned out to be very popular, based on likeability, but talent-wise, was no threat to Judy as far as carrying a major production.
