****Yes I know crappy hand camera quality! BUT it's the story that counts, lol.
***It might be loud...I'm just saying.
"Tea for Two" segment from "The Judy Garland Show". Judy and June were friends since their MGM days. They talk about how MGM used to threaten Judy by saying they would replace her with June if she ever screwed up.

Whenever June was asked about garland she became very emotional . She really hit bottom when her husband died and Judy was there for her like she had been at mgm . Both had wonderful hearts and a connection

You can tell they really cared for each other and that is what a great friendship is. People can say whatever about Judy but, it seems like Judy was a very caring person. I love both Judy and June.

I had the pleasure of meeting Miss Allyson in the early 1980's. We spent some time together. This clip shows her, as she was, a fun loving, unassuming person. Love her version of "Just Imagine" from Good News.

@jaytlr9: Judy kissed EVERYBODY, both men and women, personal friends and fans she met on the street. It was one of her ways of showing how much she really loved all people. And the public loved her for it.

There are some songs and videos I keep watching at bedtime, or even during the day as a pick-me-up, and this is one of them. It's from a different time and better world. Clearly June was plastered and Judy held things together. June and Judy socialized frequently off-screen post-MGM for years, were true friends, not photo op acquaintances. The love they had for each other, when they could have been competitors, is touching.

This is lovely. Two of my childhood favorites. Very different kinds of performers even though they both did musicals. Thanks for offering us this glimpse into the MGM ladies, who didn't hate each other and had fun in the interview process. Reminds me of Diva on Diva on PBS.

I just saw an old TV show that Burt Reynolds had in the 80s. I didn’t remember the show, but he pulled together the icons of Showbusiness in one big round table. He had Ginger, Rogers, June, Allyson, Esther, Williams, and one other, and I don’t remember who that was. June told the story of taking her 2 1/2 hours to get to the studio every day and she would take the bus And she was standing out in the pouring rain. One day in a black limo passed by and came back. The door opened and the unmistakable the voice of Judy Garland called out for her to get in the car before she drowned. June was just a contract player at that point and hadn’t really done much and couldn’t afford a car. For about six months every day Judy would stop and pick June up on the way to the studio. If June left earlier, she would send her home in the limo. If Judy left earlier, she would send the limo back for June. She said this went on for about six months before she could buy her own car. It’s just a shame that she died so young. I just remembered the last lady was Jane Powell, who replaced June in royal wedding.

Can you just imagine what it was like to be in the audience of The Judy Garland Show. To just sit there and enjoy all of the great entertainers of the day come and sing with Miss Judy Garland. Those times are gone. Today, the celebrities are not "Stars", they have no personality and seem to give nothing in their interviews. They just promote their current project and leave to the next show. This is a lost era.

Again, thanks for posting these two; seeing them together makes me miss my close girl friends. I enjoy seeing real love between people in show business - it's a rare thing these days but its good to see it between these two wonderful ladies.

Oh my goodness thank you so much for posting this, I've always wanted to see June with Judy and I've never been able to find a clip on KZbin before - so THANK YOU! :) Aww, the two of them are so cute together, I love June's story about her eyes disappearing when she smiles, haha, and the story about Judy driving her home, which is also in her autobiography. Is this the episode where the two of them were rumored to be drunk? They only seem drunk on friendly happiness to me. :) Thanks again!

June was drunk through the whole show. Her husband had died a year or two before & her mother-in-law was suing for custody of her kids because June was fooling around with Alan Ladd, a married man. Very sad.

Dick Powell died the same year she appeared on the show, not “ a year or two before”. Also, there’s no way June’s mother-in-law, Dick Powell’s mother, could sue for custody since she had died in 1940! Allyson’s affair with Ladd had ended in the late 1950s … Powell died in January 1963 and Ladd in January 1964. Where do you get your fallacious information?

Your welcome! They were said to be drunk and I don't know if it's true or not but they did seem a little tipsy, or it could have just been because they were excited to work together so there was just a lot of goofing around, lol. I wish they had done more together they were cute together!

I always loved June Allison, and it makes me so angry that her husband told her she wasn’t pretty enough for the lead role in the three musketeers. She has reconciled herself to agree with him. However, I do not. I don’t think he was good for her And love him or not I think he battered her self-esteem. She had that smoky, deep voice, and the perky personality along with the justice streak. When I was a teenager, my dad was ill, and we watched all these old movies together. Her and Peter Lawford in college learning French, and all the other wonderful movies she made. One of my favorite was when her father ran the zoo, and the lion roamed their house. It was so adorable. And it was made more adorable by June being cast in the role.

Funny you said that they look like they're drunk - I see what you mean, but they weren't. June NEVER drank for fun. Judy may have been on pills, but I can't say. June said she and Judy were always joking around, and so much so that Mel Torme even thought they'd had a few before this show because they got so carried away with their hijinks. I would've loved to have been around them at parties - they must've been quite a comedy act!

Almost Everyone who ever comments about Judy says the same thing, she's the smartest and funniest women they ever knew. I read that June was a little sloshed, and Judy played along so June wouldn't take a hit. I believe it because Judy was a very caring person , whether it be friends or people she hardly knew.

June was really not that talented, but MGM liked her winsome girl-next-door quality, better than Donna Reed, also under contract to MGM, and June was a great success, but never in the same league as a singer than Judy, and she knew it, and said so. June fell apart after hubby and love of her life Dick Powell died, and after MGM, had five years as "queen of the remakes" at other studios, including a couple at MGM, so... nice while it lasted, Junie, and you had to have been inebriated in that duet with Judy on her show. yes?

She was... June did not want to do this show or work at all at this point...June had become totally depressed especially about the recent untimely death of her husband. So it wouldn't surprise me that she had to get liquored up to do this show.
