Hi Annette, what a lovely tour and in particular I wasn't sleeping well and was pleased to see your new video on the screen. Whenever I see you post I stop what I was doing to watch. Congratulations on reaching 10,000 subs, you deserve it with all the effort you put in to share this wonderful garden. Today I was so happy to see you have "Julia's Rose" because my wife is Julia and her mother bought her that rose many years ago. Sadly it died and I deeply regret it,, so I must get a replacement soon. Looking forward to the Dahlias. I grew so many more than my garden can take really, and then early this year I pinched out the tops of the little dahlias to encourage bushier growth and didn't have the heart to throw out the tops, so I put loads of them into a few little pots to root and they all did. I took them to a friend with an allotment, so she plonked them in the ground all over a bed where she was growing rows of vegetables, so that should be a funny thing to see later. Thank you so much for making a difficult day easier. It's not just your garden, but you have a warmth and genuinely nice personality that I feel you are a good friend. I hope your garden continues to be a source of joy for you...just so you can keep making videos for us too haha. XX

I have several Litchfield Angel roses in my garden, and my roses are 6foot plus high, so blooms that flop don't matter. It is an extremely vigorous rose when it's established, so give a couple of years and you will be amazed by it. I always say if it had a perfume it would be my favourite rose ( but that is still Gertrude Jekyll). Well done Annette 😊

Try cutting a leafless branch and see if you have a brown ring just under the bark. I had a forest pansy redbud that did this in its second season. Unfortunately it was verticillium wilt- this is an awful plant disease so hopefully not. Good luck!

Oh, thanks Claire. I will definitely take a look. I've noticed a few more healthy leaves so I'm really not sure what's been going on. It's a mystery so far so I will check for the brown ring. 😊

I find your channel delightful and always look forward to your videos. My roses bloomed just as the heat wave came through - 36.11C to start and then ended with 35C, a full seven days, we are not accustomed to weather like that in Ohio, in June especially. I'm waiting for the second flush, fingers crossed. Take care.

Congratulations on your 10k- brilliant news. Loved looking at your gorgeous roses. I bet the perfume is heavenly. I love James Galway and Eustacia Vye. Gorgeous roses. I love pale pink flowers with lilac flowers, I decided at the weekend. You do the same as me - not picking your sweet peas if you need them to be in flower. I always take my poorly neighbour a bunch of flowers every week. This past few weeks it has been Sweet Williams and Sweet peas. However, I won't pick the sweet peas until Monday so I can enjoy them in the garden at weekends! I just adore their sweet perfume wafting across the garden to the seating/dining area. Rondo was my first dahlia to flower this year, closely followed by Karma Amora and then David Howard. All strong , rich colours. None of my pastels have opened yet, but lots of buds. Hope your Cercis picks up soon. I love those trees - stunning! Happy gardening 🙂 x

Your garden is looking so beautiful. My Eustacia Vye has done really well too Annette. It was so slow to get going but is now flowering her socks off. It's nice to see that you grow Corn Cockle as I rarely see it these days. I grow it too and have had some self seeders pop up this year which I'm pleased about as they're the purple ones. I only sowed the white this year so it's good to have the two colours. Well done on your 10,000 subscribers. We all love your channel!

If the tree is leafing out it has some vigor. Not sure why you assume it's dying. Plants sometimes take time to recover, sometimes a year or two. They sometimes go in to shock and we need patience. Vicki
@cottoverdi4 ай бұрын
Ah, thanks Vicki but the tree has been leafing out and the leaves have been exactly the same size for 3 months! So I really don't think it's very healthy. It's possible that it needs more shade and so I may move it to a more appropriate location and wait to see whether it's happier there. 😊

Hi Annette, I have 4 red buds and they take a while to establish. I just moved 2 weeping trees into our garden beds and out of our front lawn. One did very well and the other looks terrible but we are not going up . We had a professional move our trees and he said that it takes a year or two to establish. I think your looks healthy as it blooming. Your roses are stunning and congrats on 10, 000! So happy that I am one of them. I have Kinsleys ghost in two urns and they climb on each side of my entrance arch. 🎉

Your garden is glorious. No other way to describe it. (Would love a peek into your greenhouse at some point as you grow such a lot from seed). Your roses are so pretty. I'm a novice, but mostly inspired by you and the need to give some substance and a bit of height here and there in a new long border, I've bought 5 new roses this year. 2 for pots on the patio, 3 for the new border. And I have my eye on Festive Jewel. How often do you feed your roses and what do you use? I'm not surprised you have 10,000 subscribers. You deserve many, many more.
@cottoverdi4 ай бұрын
Thanks Sue. That's very kind. I really appreciate your support. 😊 I don;t actually have a greenhouse - just some mini pop-up plastic ones - it's a dream to have a real greenhouse one day 😁 I feed my roses every spring with granular food and then at least once when they are almost done with their first flush of flowers (about now) and then we mulch with farmyard manure in the autumn. 🌹

@@cottoverdi I can’t believe you grow all you do without a greenhouse! You are a magician. Amazing. Now the tomatoes and chillies are out of our little wooden grow house thing(!) @cottoverdi3 ай бұрын
Hi there, I'm not sure exactly which ones you're referring to but the dark foliage close to the Eustacia Eye is Physocarpus Lady in Red and the dark foliage near Susan Daniel and Rosemary Harkness are both Actaea racemosa (cohosh bugbane or black snakeroot). Hope this helps. 😊

I've got one that's not as old as yours and not really found it's feet yet. It's interesting because it doesn't seem to be very popular but you and I like it. I've got two Mme Alfred Carriers and they've done so well this year and are repeating now and will do thoughout the summer and late into the Autumn. You can check it out on my Channel if you're interested. I love your videos. Cheers! P.
