Sorry it's been a while! So thought I'd just post an update on my Landing Growspace. Lots of spikes and overall all the plants are healthy and doing well. A tour of my newer & younger houseplants I keep in this growspace, as it's nice and warm up there.
Rot on my Cycnodes Wine Delight :(. #OrchieDee

The area where you have your house plants and orchids. I think I would have agree with you about by sitting there you would be like there is fresh air. Like all your blooms and looking forward to see those in spike in bloom. The NoID Dendrobium that looks like real dark purple is called Black Thailand or Velvet Melody. I have one and it is in the process of growing three canes. Looking forward to seeing it in bloom in late fall here in Canada. So it should grow as tall or taller then the 2 canes the old flower spikes from last fall. Enjoyed the video and have a great day.

Kim Paquette yes it looks like the velvet melody I think! Lol ... definitely an apt name since I’ve harmed on about its velvet texture so many times!! Thanks 😊

It’s funny... it took me awhile to switch my watering behavior to orchids... then after I got used to it, I couldn’t take care of regular indoor plants! Almost killed lots of regular plants... they are all good now though.

Yes, and honestly, you mostly learn from mistakes! So you need to some plants to take the fall so you can really learn to read when they are starting to decline.

Those Alocasias are some fuzzy ones. I think Kaylee Ellen (KZbin channel) said they are 9 miles plants. You get one shot with their leaves, when they're growing a new one. (Slacking behind with watering and boom.) I just bought a stingray, was pondering between zebrina and that one. It had new leaf coming during transport and it stayed distorted and I guess it will stay that way. The new one is coming out and I'm hoping it will fare better.

@@OrchieDee Not really and then again yes. I started following her when she was not into any uncommon plants or had her plant shop. :) she used to bought stuff from IKEA back in the days. She has the older video about Alocasias, which I was referring to. (To be honest I forgot the whole rare plants as I have been following her from the early days of her channel).

Wanda Shaw yay!! I’m thinking of a video comparing orchids vs other houseplants. I feel like there’s an unnecessary divide! It’s like poor orchids are outcast from the houseplant world

Hi Orchie Dee, I love that idea. When I look around on You Tube, I seem to see more houseplant channels than Orchids, not knocking the houseplant channels at all, I love them, too but ORCHIDS are my FAVORITE!!! Looking forward to what you put together!! Happy Growing. :)

How high are your Mars Hydro lights over your Phrags? Now that I've got quite a lot of them, I ordered a Mars light since I keep them inside but I don't know how far away from the light they should be when it comes.
@OrchieDee
@OrchieDee 4 жыл бұрын
What light did you get Michael? The SP250 is adjustable. But I find the phrags (most of them) can tolerate super high light. I’ve never had any burn. The only thing they really hate is drying out! Mostly I keep them on the top shelf, but I repotted some last month and put them on the bottom shelf to reduce stress.

@@OrchieDee I got the TS 600. I considered the SP150 but I thought it would be a bit too bright. The PAR values they had listed were super high and I was afraid of burning them.

Very nice blooms Dee, Also been collecting some house plants as well, one of the most trending plants around at the moment are the Variegated Monstera or the Thai Constellation they look great but very very expensive. Lucky we all love Orchids.
@OrchieDee
@OrchieDee 4 жыл бұрын
Yes. The Thai constellation is quite a bit cheaper than it used to be. I got one recently actually (it was $195, not cheap but was a good size). Other variegated monsteras and philodendron are ridiculously expensive. I can’t believe how much people will pay for an unrooted cutting! I’m hoping to build on rarer one more by swapping in the long run. Just need a couple of gems and go from there!

Quick question do you know if Australian dendrobium respike on old canes like latouria dendrobium?
@OrchieDee

Yes, most do. Dendrobiums in general are fairly good at spiking from old canes one they are fairly mature
