I get emotional every time I think of Kim Jun Gi. Not so much for his glory. But for his humanity. Those art streams he was so approachable. It was like having the quiet friend who smirks and shows you a cool drawing he freshly made. Then sneaks it into his massive pile of weird notes and drawings in his desk. I also want to thank Boin Lee, and everyone in Super Ani for being such a huge part of the process. Boin, it was your voice that translated Jung Gi's thoughts outward to the world often times. Thank you.

Kim Jung Gi should have lived for another 50 years at least. I've always admired great artists, but I always knew that a lot of work and preparation went into each of their pieces. Jung Gi was the first time I saw an artist consistently, boldly draw directly with inks on paper with zero preparation, incredible consistency, precision and creativity, seemingly able to draw any subject or character, no matter how realistic or cartoonish, and make it look effortless, like his brush just glided on the paper without him needing to think about it. I could be putting him on too high a pedestal, and he himself would likely disagree, but I feel watching him draw is not too dissimilar from how it felt for people to witness the works of the masters during the renaissance, just realizing that doing something like this was actually possible for one with not just talent but especially hard work and conviction. May he rest in peace.

Fantastic. I feel like he's the only artist/famous person the I'm still sad that they're gone. Like most I was hoping to meet him one day. I am constantly inspired daily by his work and grateful for all the sketchbook compilations that I've picked up over the years of his. I can at least flip through and be reminded of his greatness. We will meet one day in another time. Much love to his family and friends.

His near superhuman talent and the generosity with which he gave it to the world is sorely missed. Seeing Jung Gi take in Paris with powers of observation almost no one can imagine, and seeing his fascination, his youthful passion, it's unbelievable that his flame could be put out so suddenly. It's still hard to process that he's gone.
