Order 'Man and His Symbols' by Carl Jung: geni.us/manandh...
The anima and animus, in Carl Jung's school of analytical psychology, are the two primary anthropomorphic archetypes of the unconscious mind, as opposed to both the theriomorphic and inferior function of the shadow archetypes, as well as the abstract symbol sets that formulate the archetype of the Self. The anima and animus are described by Jung as elements of his theory of the collective unconscious, a domain of the unconscious that transcends the personal psyche. In the unconscious of a man, this archetype finds expression as a feminine inner personality: anima; equivalently, in the unconscious of a woman it is expressed as a masculine inner personality: animus.
The anima and animus can be identified as the totality of the unconscious feminine psychological qualities that a man possesses or the masculine ones possessed by a woman, respectively. It is an archetype of the collective unconscious and not an aggregate of father or mother, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, or teachers, though these aspects of the personal unconscious can influence the person for good or ill.
Because a male's sensitivity is often lesser or repressed, the anima is one of the most significant autonomous complexes of all. It is said to manifest itself by appearing in dreams. It also influences a man's interactions with women and his attitudes toward them and vice versa for women and the animus. Jung said that "the encounter with the shadow is the 'apprentice-piece' in the individual's development...that with the anima is the 'masterpiece'". Jung viewed the anima process as being one of the sources of creative ability.
In the book The Invisible Partners it is said that the key to controlling one's anima/animus is to recognize it when it manifests and exercise our ability to discern the anima/animus from reality.

On almost every trip I’ve ever had I feel a female presence in the beginning. Sometimes she takes different forms and sometimes I don’t see her at all but I don’t need to because I can feel her presence and know she’s there without having to see her. She’s very comforting and is almost like my cosmic trip sitter. At first I thought maybe she’s like my eternal soulmate but then I realized she’s my female archetype. I am a man but I think she is the feminine version of my psyche and I believe there’s a polar version of every being out there

How did you overcome the overly active anima? Do you have any tips on how to balance the anima with more masculinity?
@Enlightenchannel
@Enlightenchannel 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, I'm actually really familiar with this topic. Solving the "anima problem" is no small subject though. Watch your dreams carefully and you'll see her there. The more time you spend listening to the anima the more your waking problems with women will diminish. I recommend having some kind of religious practice the establish a strong positive feminine power in the psyche, pray the rosary or find something in your own traditions. Ultimately, the yearning to be united with the anima will lead to deep mystical realizations. Being united with her is synonymous with realizations of God. So you can't separate the anima from God. The two are intertwined.

@@HoaxersUltima33I prefer to understand Christ as the son of Yahweh and the son of Mary, Yahweh sends Him to atone for all sin and mistakes, and by the consent of Mary the Great Mother He is sacrificed to atone for all the violence of the Bronze Age especially. And model a new type of man who is not a warrior hero oppressing the Great Mother but instead truly obeys her but also obeys the Father God, the perfect union. I also had a good experience with my mother and was teased a lot because people considered me too feminine. However I believe it is good and I feel like I am more in touch with my anima than most men I know. Many of them deny their feminine side, their emotions, their subconscious, but to me the unconscious is powerful and beautiful.

I've been delving into learning about these jungian archetypes for some time now, and the anima and animus really hit home for me. I am a writer of sorts, and all my life I have been creating characters and stories with whatever resource I had at my disposal (toys, Lego, video games, and now proper literature). Just learning about the anima made me realize how deep seeded the female characters of my stories are to me. I have always noticed that I have more of a 'connection' with them, rather than my Male characters. I had always pondered the implications of that, but now I think that may be due to the fact that, I am a man, and a male character is very much concious projection of myself, and I am keenly aware of that. However, my female characters always hold a sense of mystery and intrigue. When I'm writing them, I never know ahead of time exactly how they develop, but when it happens, it feels amazing and I feel like I learned something in the process. I've actually begun having fun writing again because of this, and I derive much meaning from it.

I really understand Jungian anima much better. For me as a male she has been suppressed severely in my subconscious mind by both nature, nurture and by me. She exists as a vital subconscious part of me. She knows no words only feelings. She is in a state of rage and sadness at being ignored by my conscious egocentric self. I am suffering gender dysphoria because I miss her in my conscious being! It's no damn wonder, I've hurt her terribly. I've had worthy surrogates, but I want my original Eve back! If she can't come here I'm going there.

But there was something to Audrey Hepburn herself that made her, I think, an aesthete, and then the subject of projection. Jung had an assistant, in Zurich, a man who was a medical doctor from England. This young doctor was married to a beautiful woman, but Jung noted, “She's not his anima figure.” “Anima,” Jung said, is an image, an unconscious image, which a man does have concerning the kind of a woman he can really love; clearly, it is a spiritual matter, not a matter of outer beauty. Indeed, soon the English doctor divorced the woman and found another one he really loved because, Jung noticed, she was his “anima figure.” Experience tells me that it is an astrological matter: where Venus is in the man's astrological chart, that shows his 'anima figure,' which as in this video can still be negative (healing is a part of individuation).

Tilda Swinton's character in the movie Only Lovers Left Alive is a great anima exemple (for her husband Adam), and Jack is Rose's animus in Titanic, I think. In the tv series Outlander the two main characters, Claire and Jaime, as a couple, kinda seem to feed the other's anima and animus, as a "power couple", or even Ygritt and Jon (GOT) and Morticia and Gomez Addams, in different styles.

This is kinda misleading. It's not the feminine image but the relationship ability of the male outside the ego. The symbol of it is the woman but it's not simply the ideal female in a man because feminine traits go beyond the simply the female. I recommend Jung to live by on KZbin. They explain it well. Pretty solid explanation otherwise

Question though is this the same in all males including those who are of other sexual orientation? I say this because if libido and the anima are intertwined but a male has no sexual attraction to women what is happening in these instances? 🤔 is this due to a negative relation to his animus or not, it brings into questions many things regarding human sexuality including women's if these archetypes are tied to human libido.

Lita Costner - "The words for ‘spirit (רוּחַ rûach) and wisdom (חָכְמָהchokmāh) take the feminine gender in Hebrew. However, this does not make them intrinsically feminine any more than truth or sin, both of which take the feminine article in Greek (ἀλήθεια (alētheia) and ἁμαρτία (hamartia)). Furthermore, when rûach is used for the Spirit of God, it is always combined with the masculine Elohim and takes on its masculine characteristics. E.g. in 1 Kings 22:24: ‘Which way did the Spirit of the Lord go …?’, the word rûachtakes the masculine verb עָבַר ‘ābar: ‘went’."

Seems somehow incomplete; the animus lecture was more developed in the explanation of how this manifests generally in women. The Malala speech at the UN was an exquisite explanation of certain masculine qualities: particularly courage, power, strength in a quite feminine yet mature young girl . No such example was presented showing great compassion and wisdom, highly developed female qualities in a male. I would suggest the late great Nelson Mandela as an example, a man who had every reason as a man to punish his tormentors and avenge the torment of his people. He found the mind, the will, the heart , the courage and wisdom to try another way. That many of his former and current enemies escaped justice is unavoidable but that so many millions globally held him in such high esteem for his effort and and were perhaps guided by his wisdom mediating their own conflicts balances the scales. Of course, the scales are once again unbalanced! To paraphrase Jung ‘ the psyche of man is the greatest danger: the psyche of man in its unbalanced state is capable of setting the earth on fire! ‘ Not to say a rogue woman as we women come into power could not do so as well. But rhetorically, and what we know now begs the question of who maintains the greatest capacity for harm. We should worry enough to pay better attention, I think.

The reading of the Chief Seattle letter to the US president got me to do some quick research. Indian agriculture made it necessary to have sovereignty over land, which was communal and, since women did the bulk of the work, was under matriarchal control. So male hunting culture created resistance to the US governments attempts to make them exclusively agricultural. All this complexity underlying the expression of Nature as Mother.

@enlighten I found this and it's an eye opener. What should someone who has become effeminate, sentimentalist, out of graps with life due to a good experience of the mother do? Please help.

Oh that’s easy. Hang out with men who are more aggressive and assertive. Take steps to be more attractive to women and push yourself to be more decisive. Indecisiveness is the crux of arrested masculinity. Don’t be afraid to make a mistake, learn by failing.

Though the name was changed in the video, the concept's still the same. It's all about directing your libido to outside figures than your mother, in a romantic sense.

I had an epiphany about the Devine feminine just recently. I realized that I had only ever considered it academically. I understood its place in world religions but I had never considered it a part of my personal reality. I had jumped from Yahweh to Thor to Odin, and never even for one second considered accepting a feminine deity. I have since added the Devine feminine to my practice with great results. Keep up the good work.

Nicholas Leclair There is no divine female or male, what happened is you acknowledged your subconscious feeling that you were missing a female diety, in truth it's that you yourself have neglected your feminine side, which isn't exactly a female like how we understand female to be, it's just a part of nature, as up has a down, simple.

Count Janus Hassildor do you have any peer reviewed evidence to support your claims?
@countjanushassildor4727
@countjanushassildor4727 6 жыл бұрын
Nicholas Leclair I dont have peers, and what backs up my claim is the natural world itself, up and down isn't called up or down until we identify it and make up a name for it, a label, such as male and female, we consider males in human perspective because makes have penises, females likewise we consider female because they have vaginas, and after we identify these differences we create a label for them, thus a being with a penis is male and one with the other is a female, though a being with a penis could be called "female" if in some other universe or even could be called "bagodbdhskshk" in another, it's simply identifying something and labeling it, but regardless of label it in it's purest form is still a being with a shlong and the other with a hoohaa, simple, so like the same in nature, male and female energy is also known as negative and or positive, but in it's purest form are just opposites that fill up roles in conjunction to each other, and in term of deities it's very much the same, knowing well that deities are formed in the human psyche, weather they represent actual phenomenon, physical in the universe or maybe mental, in which case are just mind created machinations, they only hold the weight of it's minds origin. Now if there was an actual physical female goddess then it would out do this hypothesis, but, since there is no evidence for such then it only leaves the mental state which creates such manifestations, your mind is affected by countless physical phenomenon daily, these in turn create sense stimulation which in turn affects the mind through your nerves and senses, creating mental manifestations, your epiphany was your bodies way of accepting a hindrance created by yourself but nothing to do with gods or goddesses which aren't really what we believe them to be.

The lecturer mispronouced pseudo, and another word i forgot. You mispelled divine. We are commicating thru shared knowledge, that is dependent on not misspelling and misprouncing for at least aesthetic values.
