Even later Type 63 or Type 81 (early non-folding stock) were never using RFP...

I got a type 56 with fiberglass stock and it's worked just fine
@Triangle26Ай бұрын
@@will24calc6 I’m not surprised. As long as you don’t plan on violently smashing it into things, or repeatedly dropping it, it will continue to work fine.

Damn bro. Sorry for your loss but I'm happy for your gain! It's a real shame that there is one less in circulation though it certainly is good data.
@Triangle267 ай бұрын
Yup, definitely a mixed bag. I haven’t counted it out yet though… I don’t have much fiberglass experience, but I’m definitely going to give it my best shot at a repair.
@seanbaker97967 ай бұрын
@@Triangle26 it shouldn't be too hard of a repair. I would use a good epoxy and a hidden metal pin. You should be able to blend it quite well. Fiberglass is weird to work with especially with small items.

still looking forward to your bad ace review. did you shelf it?

I always wanted this stock but never found one with a spike bayonet cut !! You always have the coolest stuff Triangle 😊

If you know someone good with working with fiberglass thar is repairable.
@Triangle262 ай бұрын
That makes sense. I have very little experience with fiberglass, and I’m not sure it will be worth it to me to find someone who does - although I’m certainly curious to see what a professional would do with it. In the meantime, it does seem like only the outer layer’s buckled. It looks ugly, but after being wrapped in electrical tape it looks a little better - and more importantly still works fine.

The wrist on my Jungle Stock is so slender, I'd be afraid to drop test it or even mortar it. 🤠

The only drawback of Chinese SKS is the stock. Common wood stocks of CN SKS are made of catalpa wood which is super resistant to moisture and heat but also extremely soft. My brand new French Tickler has only been to the range 4 times and it's got dings all over the friggin stock. The jungle stock cracks easily and is apparently not as durable.

Did it smell like cigs, cosmoline and curry fish heads when it cracked?

What kind of mount are you using for your sight? What mount would you suggest on your sks? I'm sorry if you have already explained before.

I am currently testing the “BadAce Tactical” NDT Rear Sight Mount. So far it seems like the best product available, but I’m not finished testing it yet. I hope to have a full review out in the next week or two.

@user-vq8ch2dj4j7 ай бұрын
Any chance you throw some epoxy and fix it or the matrix is ripped for good?
@Triangle267 ай бұрын
I think it’s fixable - I’m just not sure how well the repair will blend. I’ll probably throw a threaded rod into the wrist for strength and then just focus on trying to fill and blend the crack cosmetically.

That sucks! They are absolutely gorgeous stock. Sorry this happened man 😞

most stock are not design to be abused and drop on purpose.

Does the brass hit your optic, awful close to the bolt??!! I was thinking about getting a Bad Ace rail similar to yours but had this concern. Peace👍
@Triangle267 ай бұрын
It does not. The rail actually has a built in brass deflector which keeps the optic safe. That said - spoiler alert for my upcoming review - my rail did not hold zero through drop tests and freezing/thawing tests. I’m still trying to dissect the failure and determine whether or not that issue can be prevented, but until then I’m not 100% on-board yet.

You're in luck Sarco Inc & Clearview Investments still have jungle stocks for sale. Have fun removing half of the interior fiberglass to get the rifle to fit in it. 🤠

Why do you have the gas cover zip tied?

There is a white light attached on the other side. The drop tests were being done in the context of a “practical” SKS setup.

Flashlight. As long as I was testing the optic mount, I figured I’d set it up with a modern sling and light as well.
