Welcome to Khao Sok National Park, located in the Southern Thailand province of Surat Thani. It’s one of the world’s oldest rainforests, and one of my favorite places to visit in Thailand. A combination of the incredible ancient rainforest ecosystem and the karst mountain landscape make it spectacular. #Thailand #KhaoSok #jungle
On this trip to Khao Sok National Park, my family and I stayed at Our Jungle Camp, an eco lodge with wooden stilt tree houses, surrounded by beautiful jungle. It’s a great place to stay, highly recommended. In this video I’ll first give you a tour of our tree house, and then in the evening I signed up to go on a walking night safari in the jungle.
Although walking through the jungle at night was kind of scary, it was so cool and a totally different perspective from day light. You can really hear the sounds of the rainforest, the crickets, and drips of rain, and leaves. It was a great experience, and we were lucky to see a loris, three snakes, lots of bats, a tarantula, and finally a couple of flying fox at the end.

We stayed in one of the treehouses a few years ago and did a daytime trek. It took the WHOLE day climbing the verges of waterfalls and swimming across the water with our backpacks over our heads. The best bit was when our guide (who was wearing FLIP FLOPS btw) would pause and look lost and we’d be like “okay were gonna die in this jungle” 😆😆. When we got back to our treehouse we were so overjoyed I didn’t notice the bloodstain on my shorts where leeches had snacked on my behind🥴. It was an amazing experience

Lots of snakes in Khao Sok, and lots of exotic wild lives! I hope 【NONE OF THEM ends up on Mark Wien's plate tomorrow】. LOL just kidding! In all seriousness, it is NOT easy to spot most of these wild lives in broad daylight among the thick bushes & trees, let alone in the middle of the night. Looks like the guide is definitely very experienced, to him it's like walking at his own backyard! :D

Bangkok to Khao Sok By plane: Surat Thani airport is the nearest one but you can also choose Phuket airport. By train: Surat Thani train station is the nearest one. Be careful: the southern line is very busy, advance booking is highly recommended. By night bus: There is only one night bus per day stopping at Khao Sok. In Bangkok, it seems that the only way to book and buy it is to go directly to the southern bus station in Bangkok (booking any other night bus sold by agencies is not recommended). For sure going to have to take the family here when we visit Thailand. Grew up building treehouses in apple trees and stuff so this got me giddy and excited lol. Price is very doable too! Mark are there any other attractions within reasonable distance from the treehouse?

What a fun adventure! I did a similar guided night trek in the Amazon. Unbelievable experience. I was always afraid of stepping on something. And people need to remember that snakes can be on tree branches at eye level! *shiver*. Place looks amazing!
