I wish we knew more about survivors of that hell, by this time in the video some would still be alive, just very old. I want to hear Congolese pass down stories from their survivor ancestors. I imagine a Belgian Congo in the 1910s, 1920s, 1930s, and even 1940s would have people walking around mutilated and traumatized, unless it was so bad they died during the 'Free' State period or shortly thereafter.

Well that was an interesting video definitely something I would not want to do but my only thing would be how did they keep those Vehicles gassed up cuz I guarantee they didn't get great gas mileage but I thought the trailers were neat because I didn't want CIA I'm gas station haha

Most likely, the caravan brought everything it needed with them, including gasoline and probably spare parts and tires.

Magneto! You should look at videos about King Leopold and the Congo. He created a genocide that is little talked about. Read "King Leopolds Ghost"

From what I read (Wikipedia), while the Belgian government never fled to the Congo, in the same style as Portugal's government fleeing to Brazil in the Napoleonic Wars, after Nazi Germany conquered Belgium in 1940, Belgian Congo just continued operation under Belgian authorities already based there. It wasn't part of the Reich, it was just a colony continuing to operate without its patron state existing anymore. There was nothing else like it in WWII (except maybe the Dutch East Indies, but Japan took them over in 1942, while Congo was never invaded during WWII or formally taken by the Reich). So, if this is the first half of 1940, it's still very much just 'business as usual' in the Congo. I assume it must be, since there's no mention of something like "while the mother country is subdued by the upheaval in Europe, the Belgian Congo continues thriving thanks to the hwite man's innovation and genius" in the same cadence as the rest of the documentary.
