Thanks for your clear video. My 2002 Elantra has a Small top plastic tank leak. Watching your video shows me it's rather straight forward to do. I'm pretty good at being mechanically inclined and have done numerous jobs on my Elantra and previous cars in the past. My only issue is lack of patience and easy frustration if things don't go right. My now late father was totally mechanically inclined and could do just about anything. He would coach me to keep my cool and not get too frustrated if things don't go right. I miss him....😢 That said a few months ago I replaced my valve cover and gasket which went prettywell. This radiator job you show well here is not much more difficult to do if one just keeps one's head clear, pays a little bit of attention and not rush things... I appreciate your clear video and feel that I can do my own radiator myself. My Elantra is a manual so I won't have to do those transmission cooler lines as such one less thing to do.😄 I will watch your video again before I do my own radiator install..... Thanks again.😎👍

I am glad my video was helpful. Yes, staying cool is key to getting things done. I fully understand the frustration that working on mechanical things can lead to. If I get frustrated and feel my blood start to get hot, I walk away, go get a cold drink, maybe watch a show or something, and then come back when I am calmer. Best of luck to you.

This was the best tutorial I’ve found. Very well explained. And I could take notes that I could follow. Thank you! Also, for everyone else, we saw the top radiator hose replaced. But don’t forget to replace the lower one, and the 2 small hoses on the bottom.

@@thejungleexplorer I do have a question though. But first I would like to say, I dont want to change my head gasket. When I removed one of the smaller lower hoses, I had some oil that came out as well. Should I be concerned? When I drained the radiator there was no oil in there, or in the pan. Not until I removed the one small hose at the bottom.
@thejungleexplorer5 жыл бұрын
@@slowandcurious9455 Well, It is hard to tell without being there, but you are sure that it was motor oil and not stop-leak or some other oil-like substance, then it can only mean that you have a gasket leaking somewhere. Now, it may be really small and it may only leak when under pressure, but if there is oil in your radiator fluid, you will have to do something eventually. I ran Chevy venture van for several months that was getting a little oil in the radiator fluid, but it just got worse and I did have to change out the head gaskets eventually. And you do not even want to know how hard that job was on a Venture. LOL! I hope it all works out well for you.

OMG!!! You didn't get the air out of the system!!! You're going to ruin people's motors, heater cores, water pumps and another radiator without "burping" the air out of the cooling system! If an air pocket hits the water pump, WHICH IT MOST CERTAINLY WILL, it's game over. Boom! Overheating car- blown head gasket, pressure cracking the heater core ($1,500+ repair), seized water pump... I mean the list goes on and on!

There was definitely an oily substance that came out from the bottom line of radiator. Does that mean I may have a cracked block? Car did over heat but I was able to pull it off the road before it red lined.

Oil in your radiator is probably a head gasket leak. Should be repairable.

how much should I pay someone to do this job for me?
@thejungleexplorer4 жыл бұрын
I have never paid anyone to do this, so I have no idea. Mechanic charge by the hour, plus parts. I think a good mechanic could do this in under two hours, so I would estimate around $250 to $300 to do it.

Why the hell is there music in this video? It's an educational video and attention needs to be paid to what is done and said. The music is distracting and pointless.
@thejungleexplorer2 жыл бұрын
Sorry. KZbin videos are not made for individuals. Not everyone is a music hater. I am sure there are other videos that do not have music that are more to your liking. That is the great thing about KZbin, if don't like a video, there are plenty .ore to choose from.
@beachlife47042 жыл бұрын
@@thejungleexplorer I get that. I love music. I have a replica of Jimi Hendrix's autograph tattooed on my back. Bach is my favorite classical composer. I love the Beatles. But if I wanted to listen to music I would go to a music channel. I would never think, "Well, I feel like listening to music so I better put on a KZbin video on how to replace a radiator in a Hyundai." It's just distracting for something that requires attention and adds nothing. A video describing the steps on how to replace a radiator is not the time to be busting out dueling banjos. It's nothing personal, it's just that it doesn't make sense.
@thejungleexplorer2 жыл бұрын
@@beachlife4704 I understand what you are saying, but there are literally millions of instructional videos set to music. I am just not sure why it bothers you so much. At least to the point that you need to make an issue out if it. I get it, it is not your thing, but I just hope you are rational enough to admit that it is not an uncommon or abnormal thing to do, even though you personally do not care for it. If it bothers you that much, just mute the audio. It is a one click solution. That is a much simpler solution than me remaking the video just for you, don't you agree?
@beachlife47042 жыл бұрын
@@thejungleexplorer I am not asking you to redo the video. Just maybe next time take the music out as it adds nothing or keep it to a minimum. It's about as loud as your voice. Yes, there are millions of instructional videos with music. Most keep the music down so people don't have a hard time trying to hear what is being said. The ones that don't get torn apart in the comments section. Why it bothers me is I get more and more frustrated trying to find good educational videos which this one is, but the perfection is ruined with needless music. I just don't understand the need for music in this video. It literally adds nothing of importance. What's important is what is being said and shown.
