A song I wrote and recorded 50 years ago … there seems to be a few of them at the mo' ....… ….
I wrote and recorded this way back in 1973 for my Deram Second Time Around album released 1974 … and in STEREO !!.
My old band pals Jessie Knight and Raymie Duffy on bass and drums/percussion ...
Me on guitar and keyboards, Gordon Huntley (who was in Mathews Southern Comfort with Raymie) on pedal steele. ...
Hughie Nicholson popped into the studio wi Jessie and Pat and both he and Jessie helped out wi the chorus harmonies along with Irene Chanter and Ruby James ... and me ..
So we had a fine mix of Gaylords, Marmadukes 1&2 and Southern Comfort!!
Recorded Decca 2 West Hampstead … engineer "Honest" John Burns ...
Fond memories of this wee song ... Clodagh Rodgers did a fine cover which I think charted in the UK , which, ironically was arranged and produced by my great hero and mentor, the great Keith Mansfield..
Clodagh’s single released April ’73 well in advance of the album release … ‘bit of “family” involved, Frank, label manager at Decca and a great mate and Clodagh’s bro, loved the song, Pat by this time handing the publishing, and Keith … well .. was Keith..
so all in all quite a mix eh... what goes 'round eh?
Currently you can stream this and all of the other solo Deram recordings incl the hits on the Second Time Around (Expanded Version) released by Universal as below
