Hi ^^ This year has no right to be that good, its one of the bests ever for sure already. My Top 16: (from Germany) 16. Ukraine- 5/10 Im sorry, but this one is just the one I enjoy the least. The song is to annoying to listen to it for long 15. Georgia- 5.5/10 I like her voice, but the boys Parts are not my thing and the song is kinda messy 14. Portugal- 6/10 Kinda beautiful, but unmemorable compared to the rest 13. Italy- 6/10 Same as Portugal, but a bit more powerful 12. Malta- 7/10 She is such a great singer, but the song is ,,only'' kinda good to me 11. Albania- 7/10 Huge grower, I really like this songs atmosphere and it sounds so much better after the revamp 10. UK- 7.5/10 Very catchy and I love the drops, but beside that its not my thing and the lyrics aren´t good 9. Spain- 9/10 So cute, likeable and enjoyable. Spain keeps their path of being strong 8. Estonia- 9/10 Gorgeous song, wonderful and cute little message. And I love the Estonian Language 7. Poland- 9.5/10 Powerful and touching Ballad, sang by a Phenomenal singer. I love Majas voice so much 6. Ireland- 9.5/10 They can´t go wrong with cultural stuff. This is so beautiful once again. Also amazing that Sophie showed up in the Music Video 5. France- 10/10 Such a Bop, this song gives me so many positive vibes. 4. Germany- 10/10 Im insanely proud of my countrys entry. Its so adorable, and the lyrics/message of the song are both touching and heartwarming 3. North Macedonia- 10/10 Masterpiece of a Balkan Ethno Ballad, this song is so striking and wonderful. Also gotta add that Tamara is my Favourite singer/vocalist of the year 2. Armenia- 10/10 What could go wrong if Malena and Tokionine write a song ?, Nothing thats right ! This is an absolute freaking Banger. So awesome how In your Face this entry just is. Armenia is a Powerhouse of JESC. I adore this entry even though Im not a fan of K-Pop 1. Netherlands- 10/10 Everything here just works so well for me. This song is catchy beyond words, has brilliant Dance Breaks and the chemistry of Sep and Jasmijn works so incredibly well.

It's hard for me, or any fan, to be hugely invested on this contest when the entries competing are this average. My ranking is as follows: 1 - Georgia 🇬🇪 9/10 I'm a sucker for this style of Georgian music. It did take a while to grow on me and the english bit still bothers me a bit and could've easily been cut, but I digress. Their harmonies are a stand-out and I particularly enjoy the last chorus with the ethnic singing. Wish they tried submiting something similar to the adult contest. 2 - Albania 🇦🇱 8/10 Sue me Idc. I really liked the revamp and it's being tremendously underrated by the fandom, at the moment. Quite a memorable melody and one of the few ballads that manages to actually feel genuine. I truly think people just aren't giving this one a fair shot. It's lovely 3 - France 🇫🇷 8/10 It's so easy to like this one. In contention to win, but likely wouldn't have been Top 5 in like 2019 - aka the peak of Jesc. 4 - North Macedonia 🇲🇰 8/10 I admit, it did grew off me. It's attempting to bite a little more than it can chew and feels oddly mature even in such a lineup full of ballads. Still, Tamara has perhaps the most impressive vocals in the lineup and that gorgeous ethnic drop alone is enough for it to be a contender for the win. In a fair world, North Macedonia is one of them this year. 5 - The Netherlands 🇳🇱 7/10 I'm already predicting a televote victory for this one. It sticks out like a sore thumb in this selection. I do like it, as it is a music genre I generally enjoy but it could've been more inventive with its drop in order to feel more epic/grand. 6 - Poland 🇵🇱 7/10 It's so close to being great. It's again one of the few ballads that actually feel genuine and the vocals are really nice and raw. It's a shame the melody itself is so forgettable though. That boy Leon or something could've helped in that departmant as, if anything, having a boy is already a stand-out this year :P 7 - Ireland 🇮🇪 6/10 As far as Irish ballads go, this one is very pretty surely, but falls short compared to Banshee, or even Solas and I'm saying this as someone with an open Irish ballad bias lol. The instrumental lacks a proper punch and the vocal feels a bit too fragile almost as if it's going to break at any point, which indeed bothers me slightly. Still, in a weak year, it's enjoyable and in contention for a Top 10. 8 - Germany 🇩🇪 6/10 Genuinely almost forgot about putting this one in the ranking lol. It's one of those song you really like when listening to it but then quickly forget after it's over. I don't think I even changed my opinion on this one at all. It's catchy and very sweet, but far away from competitive, as it is usual for Germany. Fine entry. 9 - Spain 🇪🇸 5/10 Grew on me ever so slightly. Virtually by being one of the few upbeat entries this years, it stands out and the melody gets easily stuck on my mind. The piano in the chorus is really quite catchy. Might grow on me in the future, but as it stands, it's underwhelming on every aspect of it. 10 - United Kingdom 🇬🇧 5/10 That whistle drop is incredibly annoying. Seriously I can't stand this chorus, which is a shame because it ruins a very cool beat underneath it. I reckon this could've been on my Top 3 had it not been for that stupid whistle. 11 - Ukraine 🇺🇦 5/10 Fully respect the girl's staging presence & vocals and the originality of the song itself however, I find this a tad too repetitive for my liking. Her voice is also a bit too squeaky and gets tiresome easily. I guess it's a fitting package for a junior contest, but man comparing this to "Vazhil" from a few years back is so disappointing... 12 - Portugal 🇵🇹 5/10 There's some authenticity to be found in here, but there's like 5 more ballads, this year, that achieved what this is trying to do, better. The instrumental doesn't progress enough, the overall pacing is almost plodding and the vocals can't carry it much higher than a 12th in my ranking. Portugal might have trouble in the leaderboard this year, perhaps some "Ayana"-syndrome. Ok ballad but no one cares. 13 - Estonia 🇪🇪 4/10 Very similar to Portugal but this one feels even more bland. The lyrics are really sweet and the girl clearly gives it her all (as all others in the contest actually), however such atributes can't disguise such a pale ballad, which is what this is undoubtly. Very standard and safe. Slow debut from Estonia which likely will withdraw next year. 14 - Armenia 🇦🇲 4/10 Not a fan of K-pop inspired music so I'd be lying to myself by placing this any higher. I totally get the hype around it though: it's quite a slick production and definitely one of the most exciting entries of the bunch. Just far far away from my cup-of-tea music-wise. 15 - Italy 🇮🇹 3/10 I remember commenting that I was unsure if disliked this one or not. I've already decided - I don't enjoy it at all. Again, the girls are obviously talented and the verses are sort of good, but the choruses completely kill it for me. Way too tryhard there. The melody is hard to grasp and the overall listening experience is just confusing. Surprise miss from Italy. 16 - Malta 🇲🇹 2/10 Speaking of tryhard, this song has basically no soul of its own. It was created purely to show off Yulan's vocals, which although good aren't even *that* amazing compared to its competition. Genuinely I can't remember anything about this one, other than unnecessary vocal runs "Stronger than ever befOoOoOoouuuu". Would say Malta is in contention for a second last place in a row.

Of course the final song comes out when I'm making a trick or treat display... Anyway here is my top 16 from the US *subject to change ofc* 16. Albania: Song/production just doesn't measure up to the others in a strong year but her live is so well done 15. Poland: She's got a great voice but this would've been so much more impactful as a duo. And I can say that because we actually had a glimpse of what a duo could've looked like. 14. Ukraine: Addresses the situation in Ukraine but does so with hope, joy in strength, and a childlike feel. 13. Italy : I love the message of the new generation coming to make a fairer world, and it touched me on first listen, but it's just not sticking in my head like other songs. 12. Estonia: The Estonian language is beautiful and the song has that good balance of "junior" feel and wide appeal. Very respectable debut for Estonia, but it's just getting lost in the fiercely competitive pack. 11. Portugal: It appears to be both about Julia wanting to escape bullying *and* wanting to go back to Portugal. (She's Portuguese-American, she divides her time between the US in the school year and Portugal in the summer and she's said Portugal is truly home for her.) So this has a deep impact for me as it's both telling her unique story and a story that can resonate with a lot of people. Strong year though... 10. Malta: The songwriters know how to showcase Yulan's range and power, and all those key changes up the complexity and live performance difficulty! I'm torn on this one though because it feels like Malta is returning to its JESC "golden age," but at the same time this year is so, well, strong that Stronger is middle of the pack for me. Of course we know Yulan will smash this live though! 9. UK: I'm so torn on this one too... it's awesome for Halloween with that spooky vibe, the 3-part harmony is absolute 🔥, and I can't wait to hear this live. They're like the younger Little Mix. But a line in this may make this veer slightly too mature for JESC, and I'm not sure how I feel about the whistle dance break. 8. Ireland: It's another beautiful Celtic ballad that Ireland does so well with, and I love that Sophie is one of the writers! I can't help but compare this with Solas though and while it's amazing it's not quite Solas level. Things could change tho, haven't seen English lyrics yet 7. France: French sound, great dance beat and balanced youth and maturity. Also I've known of Zoe for a while as she was many people's French JESC prediction for years, so I'm sure she will nail the live performance. 6. N. Macedonia: Another song with both clear ethnic influence and a modern beat (combining traditional and modern well, like Georgia has done). It's beautiful and I feel like they're trying what worked with Qami Qami but still doing their own unique thing. 5. Armenia: K-pop influence + always reliable Armenian JESC formula + tokionine and Malena as writers = 🔥 track!!! And I love their energy!!! 4. Georgia: Georgian traditional music meets animated movie soundtrack of today. When their voices combine, this soars. So glad they're finally sending a group again because it's harmonic magic!!! 3. Spain: what can I say, it's so catchyyyyy, it's perfect for JESC, and I love the use of all the different languages! It gets me singing it constantly, total bop, super fun track ❤❤❤ 2. The Netherlands: Amazing vocalists in Sep and Jasmijn, absolute 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 dance drop, "is it friendship or is it ❤something more❤" angle... they have all the ingredients of a banger, and if they nail the staging, the Dutch have a high chance of bringing that trophy home!! 1. Germany: indie-ish and acoustic suit Fia's vocal style well, 100% the best song Germany has sent because of how unique it is. It's Fia's and her sister's story of love and communication (as Fia's sister Emilia is nonspeaking and uses sign language to communicate -- that's why Fia signs). I also heard a preview of how they're revamping part of the instrumental for the live, and that makes it sound even better 🙌 Ohne Worte should easily give Germany their best result and I hope they get a win, the uniqueness and genuineness of this song just really touched me
