Hi Laura, The longer I "know you" via your You Tube channel the more admiration I have for you as a person. Your attitude to your lovely niece, Mia, helping and teaching her using all your aquired knowledge, your kind inclusion of everyone you meet and your ability to embrace everyone in the "junkin' scene" and of course your encouragment to your subscribers. You are a lovely person. You have brought a smile to my face today - thank you so much. xx

Hi Laura! I'm located in Montreal I've been a decor artist all my life - but now I'm working for my own account. I collect mid century modern decor items, art deco ware and all things fun. Although, I pair it with my original paintings. When my new shop is set up I'll give you a shout luv 🦁🌻

I heard from many people that this Fall event was one of the lower turnouts they've had for vendors. The best time to go to Junk Bonanza is in the spring; the fall is always smaller. So I definitely recommend coming for the spring event, there will be way more vendors! Other markets in MN include the Medina flea market, which is every Sunday May - Oct, Minneapolis Vintage Market, which is a once a month pop-up, Oronoco Gold Rush, in August, and Elko New Market, which is once a month during the summer. There are more, but these are my tried and true events in Minnesota. It is really interesting to hear that the pricing is similar to the NW, I would have thought it would be cheaper here!
@gretchenschaumann18082 жыл бұрын
I agree wholeheartedly with what you have shared here about our Minnesota market areas. I too was surprised that she felt the Mpls area was similar to PNW, as I would of thought we would be a lot cheaper. My niece and her significant other purchased a silver plate ornate platter for $150 in Minnesota at an antique shop and they were thrilled. They were from Seattle and said it would be WAY more expensive out there for the same thing. I had the same tray they had bought and think I paid like $15 for it, so I was shocked they thought $150 was a steal. 😂😂😂

I am from the Minneapolis area and have been attending this show since it’s inception. It truly is a great place to spend some time hunting for that special unique piece that speaks to you personally. I too love the vendor you bought your jewelry from visit them each time I attend. I have bought some really cool pieces too. I used to be a vendor at Junk Bonanza back during the hey days before there were so many other events throughout the country, and people would fly in from Texas and even as far away as Japan to shop the event around 2009 time period. I am so happy to have found you on KZbin as you are a joy to watch and are so gracious with sharing and educating your viewers as you shop. Thank you! I design jewelry for a living with up cycling as well as using organic natural found elements and gemstones, so will need to look for one of your jewelry videos next. My husband and I are contemplating taking a road adventure out from Minnesota to the Oregon Coast and may need to pick your brain as to what and where we need to see along the way. I enjoy thrifting and seeing beautiful God created views along the way. ❤

Hi Gretchen! You should road trips to Oregon in the summer if you can. Oregon is just so beautiful in the summer months 😁 I’m hosting a huge flea market in the middle of July this summer so if you plan it around then I’d love to meet you at the market! I’ll be doing a meet up both days ❤️

@@leftcoastrevivals Thank you for your reply. We were thinking more towards the 20th of May, as I heard that it’s less busy and a nice time to visit? Your flea market sounds enticing. Can you message me the general area that you will be having this event in as well as the dates? Or is there a spot for me to contact you direct?

Hi Laura, this Junk Expo had so many amazing things. That carved table was to die for. I also saw the 2nd Part of the Thrifting Vegas episode on your friends channel. I can't wait to see it from your point of few. I'm so curious if you got to take video of you zip lining over downtown Vegas. I also really can't wait to see you riding a camel & see what you bought on that trip. It looked incredible on IG. Keep up the terrific work. Your Channel is growing like crazy. Congrats!

I love it all, but I really love the mixed metal ring. I wear a lot of gold now, so I don’t wear my turquoise rings as much as I used to. Information about stuff is so accessible that it is harder and harder to walk into a curated event or shop and find picker deals. The folks that do Junk Bonanza and alike know what they are buying and know how to figure it out if they don’t. Good for them. I think George offers the best advice for pickers - look for what doesn’t “go.” I paid $4 for a piece of Tango Glass in a farmhouse booth - it was the only spot of color in the entire booth. I buy Mid Century from what has become a honey hole, but they specialize in primitives. Finding the goods is all about thinking outside the box.

Laura, it was so much fun to share this “junk” picking trip with you and Myra? (I’m so bad with names, sorry.) These fantastic and huge events don’t seem to be quite as common on the East coast as they are in the Midwest and west, I think? There are some, of course. We live in Md just outside of DC. On occasion my hubs and I go to “The DC Big Flea”in at an event center in Chantilly, Va. The promoters claim it’s the biggest antiques and collectibles show in the mid-Atlantic. I still don’t think it’s quite as big as this one in Minnesota from the looks of the size of that building. Nearby Pennsylvania is the state nearest us that has so many antiques and vintage stores, big events and huge flea markets. The Lancaster, PA area is where The Crazy Lamp Lady lives and it’s also home to Karen from The Lavender Clothesline, two of my fave reseller channels (along with yours 👍.) Of course the East coast does have the “690 Mile Yard Sale” that goes from northern Alabama to Michigan. I’ve never even been to any part of that road trip yard sale. And there are other “50, 100 mile” yard sale routes all over the country, I thinkYou may already be familiar with these? Thanks!
