I was diagnosed with cancer and told I had 6 to 8 weeks to live. I gave it over to our Lord. He wasn't ready to have me in Heaven yet. 8 months later, I have gone from being in bed, flat on my back, 24/7. To now being able to drive my car myself. I am also back doing my crafts. Little by little I feel myself getting stronger. I will add you to my prayers. BELIEVE!

Jodi de fi, my lovely wife Amber shared this video with me and I just wanted to say thank you! While your challenge is yours, I am grateful for sharing what you were willing to with us. Although anxiety is not something that I personally have, my wife and three of my children battle that every day. You were the first Junk Journalist my wife shared with me and we were so happy to see your new post. You matter! You are in our prayers!

Hello Joie, I am sorry that you have been ill and that it has prevented you from doing what you are so good at! I have always found your videos to be extremely good in terms of the teaching you do, and the crib sheets and your positive and encouraging attitude. Please get well soon, but don't try to do too much too soon, take it at your own pace and know that many of us who have watched your videos have been in awe of your talents. We just want you to be able to enjoy making videos and crafting. I, for one, am happy to see short and clear teaching from you as it takes me a long while to grasp how and what to do - I enjoy crafting but my skills are low. Know how much you are appreciated and admired!

Joie, it is SO good to see you post again, even for just a short video! You are very much adored by so many of us, and your quiet inspiration has been missed. Please know that you are definitely not alone on this craft therapy journey. I have struggled with anxiety & depression myself, and I know that many others in this community have/do as well. Crafting for most of us is therapy - a place to relax and do something we love that makes us happy. Take your time and give yourself grace and space to recover and be better. Don't try to be "same old you" - illnesses have a way of changing us. But you CAN get back the things you love and be better on the other side. Rest and know that we are all rooting for you and waiting to help you craft through this journey in whatever way you will let us! Much love, hugs, and prayers to you!! ❤❤🤗🤗

I was SO EXCITED to see the notification for this video! You know most of my story, and I can say you've taken a HUGE step in your recovery by doing this video! The anxiety is REAL and sometimes feels relentless but you WILL get to the other side of it! Every day, every step gets you closer to it. It took me 9 months to post about it on my Facebook. No one knew but my immediate family. That's not like me. At first the change in me was scary, but as I walked through it, I became a more compassionate person and better for it. I never would have believed that. Sending tons of love and prayers ❤

You were amongst the first people I started following when I learned about Junk Journals and started making them myself. I even bought one of your journals. :-) I think about you often, and wonder how you are doing. I keep coming back from time to time to make sure I haven't missed it if you have put out an update video...and praying you are well, even if you are not doing videos any more. Dear Joie - I have had a syrinx in spinal canal for many years. Four years ago, I had to start using a wheelchair, couldn’t drive and generally hit rock bottom mentally. But I can still craft and at 72 have started to learn how to make journals and alter books for journals. During my KZbin research I found lessons and ideas. I am totally enjoying and learning from you. Hope you are getting closer to better health. Looking forward to when you can post videos again.

Joie, I discovered your videos and junk journals in the midst of a flare-up of mental illness. Your voice, your calm, clear instructions, and the satisfaction of things I can do without too much concentration keep my hands and my mind busy and productive. You are truly treasured here in this community, Joie! Thank you for making this video and updating us on your recovery. Most of us know anxiety all too well. I will continue to pray for your recovery, but also that you would give yourself grace during this time. My mom went through a double organ transplant earlier this year and God has been so good to us; she has come a long way. But I see her sometimes get discouraged when she can't do the things that she thinks she should be able to do. Sometimes when things are rough, we lose perspective on how far we have already come. Blessings!

Even when I added other interests to my hobbies, your channel has always been on my “must” watch list. I am so sorry you have been sick and I understand where you must be mentally right now. I have been enduring diabetic issues since before Covid and then I fell in the tub which resulted in neck and shoulder pain that is ongoing. I've had problems nearly my entire life with "depression". Several different drugs were tried. Some were more helpful than others. About 4 years ago, I started on some new meds, and they work great for me. I don't know what your issues are but I hope that if you are taking medication, the perfect combination will be found for you. I'm happy that you are doing your crafts. Sometimes I can become so involved crafting, that I forget my problems. Take care of your self. I hope you feel better soon.

I'm just now getting the courage to respond to you. Crafting has been my friend since I was a child, and I'm 68. An illness is an illness and we ache, worry, and just not the self we wished we were. They take time and I think you have the best friend right now: crafting! It will give you energy, fun times, allow you to be your creative self and make you smile. I can't think of a better medicine. Joie, I need you too. People say take each day at a time, and it's true. That's all we can do. We can't wish for tomorrow to be here or don't want it to come. It will and it's a new day to press on. Know that we're all here for you and look forward to your makings. Hugs!

Dear Joie, I feel your pain. You were one of a few crafters, a few years ago, who helped me out of the deepest black hole after my Mum passed away. I've always suffered depression but this loss sent me to depths I've never been before. As I listened to my psychiatrist, psychologist and the very few friends who understood (no family did) I turned to begin junk journaling. Thanks to you I surrounded myself with card, paper, books, maps etc and became immersed in your videos and what you taught me. I do know, you will recover form this particular journey, perhaps not fully as is my case and many others, but enough to enjoy life, regain confidence in yourself and to love yourself again. It is hard to share these experiences as you well know, so let me say you are brave and your subscribers will help you along the way.

Joie, I found your channel when I first started looking into junk journals. I still come back to it all the time. You are one of the very best teachers of junk journal making on KZbin. I hope you are healing and able to do the things you love to do, even if you aren't making any more videos. I'm healing from a horrific accident and subsequent surgeries, and crafting is my safe space, my healing space, and you are a big part of that healing space. Thank you for all the instruction you've put out there so far. Be well, be happy, be whole. ♥♥♥

Joie, I miss you. Hope you are having a better day. You are on my mind and I am praying for you. I am diagnosed with major depression and while it is controlled with medications I have had about 4 major reoccurrence this past year. (My husband passed away unexpectedly 2-22-22) It is no fun going thru these episodes. It takes a physical toll as well as a mental toll on one’s body. Be encouraged. You can get thru this and you will! Prayers! PS. I am not implying you have depression. I just HEAR the pain in your voice and want so much to help hold you up thru whatever this is.

Hi! Just today I made a small junk note book. I had tags that I learned from you already made. I said out loud to my sister how wonderful it was to have these tags ready made & I was thankful to you for teaching us. And here you posted this video. PLEASE KNOW YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I’m cheering & praying for you. I like you got myself back into crafting for therapy. Thank goodness for our crafts! Lol! Sending you love. Don’t rush yourself & take it easy.

Dear Joie, Three years ago when we were locked down, you were one of a small number of paper and mixed media artists whose very generous videos gave me inspiration to try junk journalling. It really helped to get me through those weeks and months of isolation. As charity shops started to reopen, your enthusiasm for using old book pages so imaginatively had me scouring shops for old atlases and other out-of-date books that might otherwise have gone to paper pulp. I have enjoyed your carefully prepared, precise, calm and perfectly-paced instructions, your love of bird images and also your have-a-go attitude to adding new skills whether it’s painting or sewing. In fact, your experiments with paint - you painted and doodled on some old book pages - inspired me to take up painting more seriously. That has now become my own quiet therapy. You have been an inspirational teacher and will continue to be so. It is very good to see you back and I wish you well on your road to recovery. x

It is wonderful creators like you who keep me motivated and inspired. This amazing community has your back and is supporting you throughout. There have been several creators who mentioned you in their videos, and encouraged people to watch some of your old videos to help keep your channel active. Such a wonderful idea for such a deserving person. Looks like your goodies in Etsy are long gone. That’s OK, I am happy that so many people want to support you. Maybe I’ll catch the next one you put up in Etsy. Please take care and know we will be here, ready to watch your next inspiring video and exploring some of your older videos for ideas. Dear Joie, I am incredibly proud of you ❤️ That you choose the way to craft, what your lust and your life is. To give yourself the chance to recover.. Know sweetheart that there are so many people who sympathize with you, because they can "somehow empathize" with that "place" where you are now. I come from a dark, dark place and every day I watch KZbin, to people who Craft and make "Junk Journals". And it helps me a lot "just" to look. I will watch and support you a lot. You deserve it to get better and hopefully you will start to feel a little better ever day. In my own "dark" place, I promise you, I will do my best to Craft with you. This way we can all get a little better, moment by moment, 1 craft projects at a time and especially at your pace.. day by day. I crossed my fingers 🍀 That you can say again soon... I'm myself again and I'm happy again and that you can close this period of being sick. Looking forward to all your next clips.. Take your own time dear Joie, because we're not going anywhere... yes.. here to you on KZbin 🤗 Think 🍀🌹

Joie! I’m just seeing this. Our home burned down (unsalvageable) on May 2nd taking out 3 fur babies with it. We got the call that our home was burning while an hour and 15 minutes from home at the pediatric ICU with our 16 year old son on life support. He had collapsed, unresponsive on the high school bathroom floor after accepting a vape pen from a fellow student that was laced with drugs. It had only been 24 hours since that happened to him when our home burned. I say all this to say, it will get better. Our son survived but I haven’t crafted anything in 4 months. I’m sad a lot of the time and get anxious at odd moments. We are rebuilding and it’s a slow process. I was once told to not despise the process. So, you, too… embrace this season as best you can. Listen to the whispers of your heart. Rest and rejuvenate. You’ll come through this new and improved. I’ve loved your videos for years. I’m praying for your peace, calm resolve. ❤

I admire your courage to share your struggles...and if we're honest, we've all struggled to some degree! I don't take anything away from your situation, but just want you not to feel alone in it! I lost my breasts to cancer in 2005 and didn't have the support I would have liked from those closest to me. However, in retrospect, I believe it was allowed to deepen my bond with God and to experience His help and comfort over and over again. I won't take the time to detail all of them, but God made it perfectly clear He could take care of me any way He wanted to...and did a masterful job of it! One time, I was out on my deck alone crying and my oldest son came through the door. He had no idea what was going on at the time, but he gave me a much needed hug! He couldn't stay, but had just dropped by for that hug! God brought me the physical hug I really needed at just the right time! There were many other sweet blessings like that! I say that to say this, you are loved...and although it's not easy right now, you'll look back and see those sweet blessings! You've been one of those sweet blessings along the way for me. Please know that my prayers are with you and there are many, many others supporting you as well! Take the time you need to heal! We'll be here when you're ready!

Dear Joie, I've watched countless videos in the last several months since I've begun my junk journaling journey. But YOU are the one that inspired me to make my very first journal (in progress). You gave me the confidence to jump in and just do it! No perfection required! No rules! Only joy! I too have been struggling with an illness, and the time I spend junk journaling is what keeps me sane. I will gladly walk with you during this challenging time for both of us. ❤❤❤

I keep coming back to your website hoping you have recovered/healed/recuperated (choose any word) and are back at that beautiful desk feeling wonderful and creating the imaginative pockets, pages, flips and tucks you're famous for.
