Same with me. I’m 59 & had to have a major back surgery. It made me realize I’m probably never going to get to everything I have, so let someone else have a chance. Plus I don’t want my wife or kids to have to deal with stuff they know nothing about, & may just throw away thinking it’s junk…

I see that and the level of sadness overwhelms the cool factor of finding neat stuff here. I can't help but think that the guy probably had that thing in his head, "I'm going to do something with this stuff some day" but just kept adding to the pile. It would have been nice if he could have unloaded a good portion of that stuff before the buildings collapsed, or at least before he passed.

I hate these hoards. All they do is ruin cars. They sit on them saying “one of these days I’ll restore it” meanwhile if any of those cars were savable, he made sure they say until they weren’t.

It's heartbreaking to see the cars in that condition. I'm a Studebaker guy that owns a 62 GT Hawk and a 63 Avanti. Both of which are in good driving condition. This is what happens when someone buys a bunch of cars with either the intention of restoring them or hoarding them hoping that they will substantially increase in value. Unfortunately most cars that end up like those eventually deteriorate to the point of not being restorable.

Mike's car is badass! Sounds AWESOME! I've been through several hordes like that. An amazing VW one a few miles from me where he had TWO split window bugs! Buildings full of parts all organized, labeled, and shelved. Flatbed of single port engines. All sold at auction. Of course I was and am flat broke. 🤣 It was awesome to tour through there. Most of them were like that place. Cars in the trees that grew up around them. Thanks for sharing!!

What a collection! And Chris said that FIFTEEN cars had been stolen off the property in the past six years. I wish that he would have been alive to capitalize on this stash. I would like to know the dollar value for all of these cars and parts. He had more NOS parts than I’ve ever seen. He probably acquired most of this stuff back when nobody restored cars and the nostalgia for classic cars had yet to come about.

Great Find! The Packard convertible in the collapsed building looks to be a '55 or '56 Packard Caribbean based on the hood sitting behind it. Very cool Packard's last hurrah! The dual carb intake could be for that car as well! Great video..... Thanks for sharing!

Chris I want to reach out to the Studebaker and Packard clubs as well as Hemmings. How do you get in contact with the people that own this place? This is a priceless collection hard to find parts. If i can get the word out to the right people some of it may get saved before they throw it all away.

Studebakers seem to attract hoarders. I filmed a couple of huge hoards in Indiana and Michigan. One hoard was so big it was in three towns in two different states.

Omg all those parts and cars, being into Studebakers Well cars in general I spotted Avanti’s and some Golden hawks and of course the GT Hawks. We are talking performance type classic’s. Packard duel quad manifold’s for 352 and 374 big blocks with the air cleaners rare stuff! Spotted fiberglass hood inlay for 57 and 58 Golden Hawk and grills. And of course starting in 57 Studebaker and Packard were using Paxton superchargers if you so desired So yes a gold mine in parts and for people who don’t know. Studebaker used fiberglass in there cars not just in the Avanti’s the Hawks have Fiberglass dashes and they also used stainless in moldings, locks, exterior door handles and trim So lots of stuff that can be salvaged if your careful.

Hey there Chris, only half way thru watching your video of these finds; the Avanti looked sweet as much as the glimpse would allow and yiyr buddy who said "Sky..." probably would have been Skyhawk script for the trunk lid for 1956 Studebaker, 1 year only. There are a couple people who coukd be interested in the Packard and Studebaker parts, probably more about the parts than the cars. Goes to show that people who are at the age that shows that people who are elderly need checked in on and need help with their property and home. Too many stores I see like this in old Western Rust and Bible Belt. I unfortunately have seen a couple of these and as you said they are left alone and no friends or family to have help with anything and they end up being all junked and crushed due to the lack of help people who are this age are able to get. I tried to help I had a former Italian car lot and he must’ve had 30 different kinds of cars and including BMWs, which are Italian and it was a mess. I walked away from it. Most of the cars were on. They were donors at best.

I can understand collecting a few cars….maybe 8-10 if I had the opportunity, but how does one man collect the amount seen here? We’re talking triple digits in the amount of vehicles. The money alone would keep most people from getting this out of hand. I’m guessing that he took cars donated by others because once upon a time even the most desirable cars were junked before the restoration hobby took off in the nineties.
