I agree. Any reasonable professional would expect less not more as age catches up with them. His ego is part of the reason he thinks he deserves so much. His numbers are good, but his all round game has gone down since a few years ago if you watch closely and don't just listen to hype. Most of the play goes through him, plus he's on penalties and playing for the in form team this year, which all contribute to him being top scorer. It would be nice if he stayed but not by holding the club to ransom. It he really cared about his LFC legacy, he'd have signed already really and wouldn't be making all this noise in the media.

the issue is.. it seems that he doesn't want similar, he wants 25-30% increase to all three years fixed plus increased bonuses. I can understand that, but I can also understand the club. Salah already cannot outran many defenders and he almost doesn't dribble past a defender anymore in the most physical and speed intensive league in the world... what would be in 1 year.. in 2 years.. He may have nice looking abs, but who doesn't in EPL?😅 His position demands speed and dribbles which he will be loosing first no matter what he or his agent says. As LFC fans for over 2 decades I love to see LFC win everything unplayable to opponents, Regarding the current controversy around the 3 players contract, I think Now am covinced that there is Ego friction in LFC hierarchy behind the scene, not clear to out world. Why they put themselves in the epicenter of medias hotspot when the team is performing at high levels expanding the chance of winning the EPL title? It is not only media,but players themselves coming out and speaking out. I tried to get why it is happening in this way? I thought could it be Age factor? We kept Jsmes Milner until 38years so giving them 2 years contract mean that will keep Mo 32+2=34 and VVD 33+2=35,which is not as such bad. Money Factor? Salah needs to accept that the more money Lfc has to invest in him, the less it has to invest in maintaining a team and squad strong enough to compete for the major trophies. This is the dilemma for Lfc whereas Salah is looking at taking as much money from the club for himself as possible. Lfc has a self sustaining business model. It is not backed by an oil state yet Salah seems to expect to be paid on the scale an oil backed club would pay its best player. If Lfc has to break the bank to keep Salah, Van Dijk and Trent, does it compromise the overall strength of the squad? Maybe it does. In which case, the end game is likely to be Lfc than Salah for his services and move on.

Every player wants to get the best contract for themselves. Each player/agent will negotiate to get the highest wages. Even people who aren't world class footballers would negotiate contracts for more pay. Bill, in the cubicle next to you, will would ask for more when negotiating a new contract. It's the business's job to reward the player's success by meeting the contract or attempting to at least. The people above the players (directors, executives, chairmen, presidents) are the ones who are getting wayyyy more money than the players.
