@@ilovengn Hopefully I can get the VVTI ecu to run correctly, seen another person on the SC platform barely get it to run good.

Definitely take to machine shop bro, it looks good but get bearings and rod bolts head bolts and everything consumable for a fresh rebuild. Definitely better to start with fresh then reuse old. Rods are fine and all just the small stuff that you don’t want being a failure point after all this effort
@lalito._.0111 ай бұрын
I agree with this. There's no point using the old stuff if it's already all torn apart. Id also get the block honed and decked. If you cheap out on this part of a build, it can come back and bite you in the ass.
@JonathanMai10 ай бұрын
I could be wrong, but only things people really tend to replace are headstuds, headgasket, and bearings. People don't replace the rod and crank bolts as than those bearings would need to be line bored.
@lalito._.0110 ай бұрын
@JonathanMai im not 100% shure but i think a line bore is only needed if switching to studs insted of bolts. When i rebuilt my engine i used new oem rod and crank bolts without doing a line bore and havent had any issues.
@RadicalReese11 ай бұрын
Cool video bro, I believe "torque to yield" is the phrase you were looking for about the main bolts. As for machine shop, I highly recommend Johnson's in Oly, Randy did great work on my 302!

Man your cams are so much cleaner than mine. Mine had sludge/buildup on them, compression is fine all around though on the engine, I didn't think to check the cams though when I was doing my valve cover gaskets. Good engine!

Glad to see this! Been following you since you did the rear subframe restore. I have a 99 SC300 mild built ge vvti, aiming for 750+ have a borgwarner s369, FT550 standalone. Really just need a decent trans strong enough to hold the power reliably. Do you plan sticking with NON vvti head? Or are you going to slap a VVTi head on that? Are you going on a standalone? ~ i went with ACL bearings and ARP mainstuds for my bottom end aswell. Manley H beam rods, CP pistons. gte headgasket. Have fun with the build!!
@JonathanMai10 ай бұрын
Glad to see that you are still here! As for the head, I plan to find a VVTI head and refresh it since my TT ecu is for VVTI engines.

Looking forward to this series bro!! Planning on doing the same for my SC in terms of NA-T. Wanted to do the same for my GE non vvti but might look for a junk yard one so I can still drive mine

Always a good idea to have a backup while you freshen up the junkyard one!

personally i would not use those bearing also does the piston rings move freely

Just checked the piston rings and yes they move freely! You're right, already looking into some nearby machine shops.

sick video, also was it necessary to take out the cams or you just wanted to inspect for wear?
@JonathanMai11 ай бұрын
I believe you have to take off the cams in order to take off the head but yes I did want to inspect the wear on the cams as well!
