It's a nice van, but since you're wanting one for summer, there is still plenty of time to wait and see another one come up. That one has a crap ton of miles and hopefully the previous owner kept a record of maintenance. I personally would pass since you've got other projects to take care of, but hey; at least you can connect those extension cords and make a whole one. Anyway, those Ford vans are notorious for those "boring" radios lol. I got one off Craigslist for free and I made it into a portable radio cuz it is light and simple. ^^

My mom had one similar to this, but hers was the 150 with a 4 L V6. I don’t think it ever ran right, and I also remember it had the same crappy boring radio and interior and such. I believe it was used for furniture, and it also had some pretty high miles.

that is the 5.4l 2v. those sparkplugs are easy to change on those engines. on the 5.4l 3v tritons the sparkplugs break off

The 5.4l triton from 1997 to 2002 are far better than the ones from 2003 to 2010 in my opinion because I have a 2002 f150 5.4l triton with 231k miles

The emissions sticker under the hood is a more accurate way to determine the vehicle year, rather than the manufacture sticker in the door jam.

Don't walk away from that one, RUN. 1) the miles are ridiculously high 2) working on van engines is a major bitch 3) people typically beat the crap out of work vans 4) it's from Ohio (rusty underneath). If you buy that, it will be a never-ending struggle to keep it on the road. The Chevy van you sold was far, far better.

@Jay Smart That's a 2000 model, if you look at the manufacturing sticker, it says 12/99, which means it was made in December of 1999, and by then, it'll be titled as a 2000 model, so not a 1999.

You should buy it if the price is right. Use it as a sole tow rig save wear and tear on your Corolla. I've seen some of those econolines with over 500,000 miles on them at auctions and at pick a part yards.

I'd leave that one where it is, simply for the fact that it rather looks like to do any serious work on that engine it is going to be easier to drop it out, which is probably going to be a royal pain in the ass. The miles don't worry me, with the Triton's reputation it seems likely that that one has been pretty well maintained to get to 331,000, and despite what people say about work vans always getting beaten on and used hard that one was an electrician's van which doesn't generally involve much in the way of really heavy stuff and, most importantly, the body is straight where most vans that have been used hard are covered in dents. I'd leave it purely on the amount of hassle it's going to be to do the work it needs to get it working properly and then after that there is still going to be the worry about it being a Triton and throwing a blue fit. Leave it for someone else. Something else with a less complicated and more reliable engine will probably turn up before the summer, or there's always the Dodge...
