Just throwing this out there for what it's worth, something my dad taught me as a kid to clean jets. We used to take the extra pieces of guitar strings that are clipped off after putting new strings on and use those to clean out jets. The wire being wound acts like a scrubber and the different size wires for different size jets.

I have a 1977 Dodge D200 Adventurer. All the same junk under the hood....similar condition. Starts up after few pumps of gas or just keeping it to floor. It sat for 3 yrs at one point. Gave it 2 pumps, held it to floor.....vvvrrrooommm! It's a beast. Everybody seems to want the damn thing too. ...crazy
