For me it's because of how layered, harmonically rich, and rhythmically complex techno is. Synthesizer technology opens up unheard of possibility and complexity to techno. Sounds both familiar and completely alien can be constructed from scratch. Only the imagination limits it. It is therefore intellectual music that has potentially limitless possibility in what it may sound like, much like science continually advances and evolves in unforeseen ways as time goes on.
