I'm sure everyone's already gone off about how good 3:39 is. Amazing, I honestly wish there could have been more of the like near the end, with Luigi struggling to even finish the Mansion motif. A terrific amount of respect on display for the source material, here. As someone who grew up with the Mario series, this song always tugged at my heart. The various clips from the franchise of Mario being Luigi's personal hero have got me wiping tears off of my keyboard. My mind traces back to the journals in the original Paper Mario. That was a nice touch at the end, with Peach and Toad. It's nice to see that he has people to help him through this loss, and the guilt. But you know, as I thought about how all the characters would react to this, an idle thought came to my mind. How would Bowser react to this? Would he go, "Huh? Someone took down Mario? Bwa ha ha ha! Now, the Mushroom Kingdom will be mine!" Or, "What? Some ELSE took out Mario? WHO STOLE MY THUNDER!?" Maybe, "Ha, now no one will stand in my way... Wow... this is going to be dull..." Or, "Bwa ha ha., now that my rival's gone, my victory is assured... but why do I feel like something's missing...?" and then some flowers would anonymously appear before the mansion.

3:20 is always my favourite part of Alone V2 and as always you take my favourite parts of FNF songs and just crank them to the max! Luigi’s voice is so powerful and most of it harmonises super well with Mario’s lines but also gives that sort of eerie dissonance to still provide that creepy edge to it at the same time. This really shows how much Mario means to him. Even in his grief he’s not fully absorbed by his own shortcomings. He is worried about how losing Mario will impact the world and he prays for his life back. His whole world is effectively gone even if he doesn’t realise that there is still people that care namely Toad and Peach. That’s real friendship, finding your friend who went out to his brother’s grave and being there no matter what. In fact, now that I think about it, that scene is a compliment to the lyrics about his brother. “Without you, I’m lost and alone” becomes “With friends, you’re found and together.”
