This song truly depicts the tragic nature of DeDeDe, as he becomes party to the enslavement of his own people, no more a king than a beast in a cage. The slight adjustments to the chorus from prior versions really make it clear how corrupted and tangled his mind is, even as he embraces the beast within. It makes you think - Given how easily several other members of dreamland went over to the beast pack (Bonkers, Mr. Frosty, and probably Edge) it almost seems like a return of long lost family members. The timeline probably wouldn’t make sense, but if Popstar/Dreamland was populated originally by races like the cappys and Waddle Dees, what if the animals were all just… migrants coming from the forgotten land? It would almost make this to be some kind of homecoming, in a way.

My beliefs are that Dedede and the Waddle Dees are immigrants from the forgotten land and the reason they left it behind was out of fear of Fecto Forgo and maybe Leongar’s new disturbing outlook. So maybe Dedede’s family and the Dees decided to pursue a different kind of land of dreams by immigrating to Popstar and made Dreamland. To back this theory up, the Waddle Dees instantly knew how to survive this planet, as if they knew what to expect from this new world, and the Beast Pack had members like Wild Frosty and Wild Bonkers, and Wild Edge.

I like the slow progression of Dedede being corrupted by fecto forgo. As if his mind is slowly being stripped only indulging him in his primal animalistic urges. Dedede is often show to be extremely greedy so the fact that his mind goes from defeating kirby to outright wanting to eat him does make sense as his mind regresses to a more primal thought. In older games it alsways seemed as if Dedede was a bad, self-proclaimed King. But now it is always mind control and this scene, when he "sacrafices" for one Waddle Dee made him a worthy King. I mean as if some Beast could defeat hin that easy, but it was quite emotional for a Kirby game. And it waa also impressive that the labs audio was in my homes language (german). I recently found this kind of songs, and I love it.

I love how in the beginning you can hear dedede trying to resist the primal urge by taking longer with some of his sentences so whether that was intentional props to you
