You can use a rust converter, it is easier than scraping the rust. A rust converter after one day after application will turn rust into a ferous oxide and rust is gone.

Jun, your work is truly commendable! I own a Land Cruiser HZJ71V, which I imported from Japan in pristine condition. However, after residing in Scotland for 2 1/2 years, it began displaying signs of surface corrosion underneath, despite my limited use during summers and avoidance of winter driving. I recently watched your captivating Land Cruiser restoration series while commuting on the train. I eagerly anticipate the release of the second episode, especially after having my own Land Cruiser undergo a comprehensive undersealing treatment for rust protection. Keep up the fantastic work! 🚙👏

Hello from Ireland Jun. I just watched your restoration videos, parts 1 and 2 and they were excellent! I subscribed 😊 I have the same LC, but the short wheelbase (KZJ71). I'm about to begin my restoration journey so I've been looking for as much info as possible. A couple of questions please. Wong Sifu said not to use two of the same batteries, instead use a power bank, that it will support the main battery. What does that mean do you know? Does it mean a battery which is not a cranking battery perhaps? Also, he said you have no ECU. Was he joking? I didn't think a modern-ish vehicle could run without one 😮 Looking forward to watching the rest of your content, and thanks a million.

AWESOME CHOICE IN CAR! I have a restored Kzj78 myself and dote over it like anything. Suggest you use some dymo tape for your labelling when you find time. Am sure you will eventually, (find time that is). I replaced the mag wheels with 5-piece WEDS from eBay Japan and went with new tires from Falken as the ones that came with the car were showing some wear after years of use. Also installed a frontrrunner roof rack for my awning to be able to latch on….enjoy the restoration journey! (P.S. am now a subscriber :-) )

You can check to see if the radiator fan viscous clutch is working properly by idling the engine after its fully warmed up (e.g. after a drive), and getting someone to turn the engine off as you observe the fan. If the fan stops immediately after the engine is switched off, this means the clutch pack is working as designed. But if the fan simply keeps spinning after the engine is turned off, it's time to service the fan clutch or simply replace it.
