Hey Joe - Jura wanted $250 to deep clean my machine. I took your wise advice and bought the tool on Amazon and did it myself. THANK YOU SO MUCH! When you pay this much for a machine - you think they'd give you a break on repair and cleaning - but NO WAY! Because of your generosity - I am sitting down to a delicious cup of Joe with a scone! Thanks so much!

Great video! Just what I was looking for. I'm tired of taking my Ena 8 in for service twice a year because Jura won't make their brew groups easily accessible like other manufacturers. Thanks again.

Thank you for your generosity in helping Jura owners deep clean their machines. You are saving us being ripped off by Jura repair shops and we all appreciate you very much!

Thanks so much for posting this, got the security key, and followed everything exactly. Was expecting to be horrified when the panel came off, but surprisingly a few clumps of mould. Bought the machine 9 years ago, and it has never been cleaned!

Thank you so much for posting this! I took mine apart today, first time in seven years, and gave it a thorough cleaning. Previously I had just sprayed up inside where the removable trays come out and used a small brush and my finger to clean as much as I could there, which did help. I also had used a wooden skewer down the powder shoot, which had been plugged and prevented the grinder from operating properly. With your helpful post, maybe I’ll be able to get more years out of this machine yet! Its Jura replacement is already sitting upstairs waiting.

Great instruction video. Additional maintenance tip: after a while the white plastic cog needs lubrication. I use salad oil for this. I can clearly hear the difference; the unit has less effort squeezing out the coffee grounds. This will also help prevent against Error 8.

I bought the little key from Amazon after a frustrating attempt to remove the special Jura proprietary screws and did the job. Thanks, it needed cleaning but was not as bad as I thought it would be.

You are the man. Thank you so much for helping. Good idea to just cut a groove into the super stupid JURA security screws. I used a rotary tool and a cutting bit to make the groove and then a simple screwdriver - just mentioning the possibility was great as I could get into the machine now and not have to wait. I cleaned out my machine and had to get into the grinder to clear it out and voila, it works. Thank you good sir!

Yes spot on comment. I'm browsing for a replacement of my Siemens eq6 plus and this video shows that a easy removal big brew group for ekstra cleaning is a must in a coffee machine.

Thx for the video, I really want to buy a Jura ena 8 but due to the complex removal of the brew group I think il stick to machine types with easy removal of brew group like the Siemens eq 6 plus I own know. It's a shame there is so difficult to get to the brew group since the Jura makes a excellent espresso. But again thx for excellent video. Quick question what coffee machine do you use know.

Same here - unfortunately the grinder is on the other side and takes some getting out. For anyone attempting this - make labels for all the wires connected to the circuit board - even with the photos I took, I had a tough time identifying where each one went. And mark the orientation of the various grinder parts with a sharpie. Adjusting it once I'd fitted the new burrs and getting it matched up with the adjustment ring on the top was a royal PITA.

How often do you use this machine? I have had mine for 6 years and I make on average 8 expressos per day. I am only now hearing a slowing down and labouring motor and it concerns me. This is the most comprehensive video that I have seen however it does not address a few issues. Where is the "labouring noise" coming from. The type and size of screw driver or wrench or used. I know that you say that you cut a groove for your screw driver but I live in Europe (France) and have a set of star shaped allen type wrenches. I see now mould in your machine and it looks quite clean so I wonder why you are going to so much trouble every few months. I think that if you were to redo this video paying more attention to the very small details, perhaps with help it would be exceptional. This is an important video to people like me as I do not speak French and to send the machine to a repair shop is a major issue. Ordering a box, completing a form in French, sending the box, being without the machine for 2 or 3 weeks and then being home when it returns by courier.

I use this machine on average 6 times per day. The noise that prompts me to clean is a slower and louder movement of the brew group when it is tamping and ejecting the ground beans. It even labors so hard that the brew group stalls and it backs up and pushes again. It sounds like your machine is right (not needing cleaning for years) and mine has some problem to require the frequent rinsing(a grounds guard getting clumped grounds or maybe a friction problem in the brew group). I'm going to search for guidance for lubricating the brew group and that may reduce the frequency of disassembly that I have to do on mine.

So I had to open this up again last week and this time I used a few drops of olive oil (that was the "food safe" lubricant suggestion that I found on some forums) on the slide rails and gear teeth of the brew group. The difference is phenomenal! I highly recommend using a couple drops of some food safe lubricant to reduce the friction. Just keep it away from where the beans will go to be tamped and the hot water comes through. It has never sounded this good, and my guess is that when I got it from Jura (refurbished) it needed a little oil then. Shame on me for not trying that sooner, but I'm super pleased with how it's running now!

@@ericster2007 I was sent a tiny pouch of silicone grease with some spare parts for my machine. I used that on some of the moving surfaces in the brew group. I'm only now opening it up again 3 years later for the same issue I had at first - the machine says "fill beans" when it is full, meaning the grinder has clogged up. The brew group, however, hasn't needed any attention in those 3 years other than the Jura cleaning tablets. I would worry that olive oil would break down over time.

Hi. I tried to take out the black side panel as you said to slide it (2:18). It doesn't move even if I tried very hard. Do you have any clue as to why? Thanks!
@ericster2007
@ericster2007 Жыл бұрын
Hey John, my guess (assuming the screws are out) is that the front or rear locks aren't all the way down or up. If you did get those sliding latches fully disengaged, the last thing could be that the side cover is just "glued" with dried coffee or syrup, etc. In that case, just some firm tugs or smacks with the flat of your hand on the side panel in the right direction should break that loose. Good luck!

In the video you say that you put a slot in the screw head with "your tool". That is great however what tool and how did you get the screw out the 1st time. I have a small hex driver but it must be imperial measure because it is slipping.

Sorry for the delay, I did not see the comments on this video. I used a very small dremel tool and slotted the screws while they were still installed. It was very tricky to not damage the plastic, and it took some time with the small disk. I recommend buying the little Jura tool from Amazon. I didn't know that was available when I slotted my screws. It's an oval headed screw, which is meant to keep us from removing them and having to ship it in for service.

My negligence has resulted in one of the little screws inside to become corroded (the 2nd one inside at the bottom on the video). I could not remove it so I unplugged the machine and transferred it to the sink and put it on an oven rack to drain and ran water gently over the interior parts. It's 90%.

No I have not, sorry. I have cleaned out the spout from the bottom of the grinder, but I just used a brush from the bottom while the brew group was out.

I have. You have to remove pretty much everything as shown in the video and then everything on the other side. Take photos and mark the orientation of the grinder components because reassembly is super tricky - at least in my experience. Just about to try it again, hence watching videos online to remind myself.
