Jura Impressa S / X / XS Rebuild Series Part 3 - Grinder Rebuild, Brew Group Install

In the last chapter the Brew group was removed and completely restored. now we will focus the attention on the grinder. When the grinder is completed, the brew group will be re-installed. It is important to note the green calibration marks on the grinder before beginning, it makes the assembly a bit easier.
As my grinder is disassembled, we see the horror show that a humid environment provides. Each layer worse than the last. We continue to use the number system from the previous two chapters for disassembly.
The amount of grinds found stuck in the machine was a big surprise. As I kept brushing, more and more came out, as it was impacted. Installation is a bit tricky with the springs and bearings, the technique in the video should be closely followed.
With the grinder finished, the lower inside portion of the machine, to include the inside of the front is cleaned. Once cleaned, the brew group is ready to be re-installed.

Excellent videos! Is there a certain "home position" that the brew group should be set to before the installation, or will the machine find the right place to park it on its own? Thanks!

It has to be all the way up to have clearance to put the screws in. The encoder module will do the rest.

This is a great video. I am an inexperienced repair-mom-wanna-be. My grinder is not working and I want to try to clean it. Can I do this without working on the rest of the machine? You also use a degreaser and other cleaners. Do you have favorite brands? Thank you

You can do this but follow the tape number method for disassembly as shown in part 1. Any regular kitchen cleaner is sufficient

@@retrotechandelectronics I watched video 1. It is so well done. Do I need to remove the brew group to clean the grinder? It is clear the grinder is my issue so I certainly would prefer to just tackle it.

Watching again, do I need to remove the front cover to clean the grinder itself? The few times I unclamp or pull off hoses, the less chance of creating a leak.

ive removed the grinder without removing the brew grounp, but dont drop anything or you will be removing the brew group@@katherinegreen3598

Hi, Very nice video series. I opened my unit and realized what the problem is. The white gear the guide the brew assembly (but is not connected to the brew assembly) is broken in half. Can I just replace it with a new gear?

Place a finger on the felt when vacuuming! Or you may enjoy digging through a vacuum cleaner bag… Block the coffee chute with a piece of paper towel or other before placing the balls!! Or you may be fishing balls out of the brewing chamber.
