Thanks for this great video series. I've watched all of them and managed to solve my problem in the machine. You saved me €480 euro, as I had an offer from a Jura reseller to do this by them. Thanks a lot, really helped me so much!

SAV from Jura asked 850$ to do this job and the seller told me after 19 000 coffees I would better change it. So I will take a chance to repair it, thanks a lot I will keep you informed ;-)

Truly a great series, thank you for sharing your know-how. I have a S-9 giving me an Error 8. This is a very lightly use machine, I doubt if it ground more than 2 lb of beans and brewed more than 1 lb of powder in it's life time. Worked fine until I turned machine upside down to shake out stale beans. I know, not very smart. My question is if I attempt a repair and get lost will you accept my shipment and rescue me. Much thanks, Marty

Superb instructional series on the Jura Impressa models! I had my trusty XS90 in storage for a couple of years as I had replaced with a more compact Gaggia Annima. Well the Gaggia died after a year and replaced that with another brand and that had multiple problems and recently sent it back to mfg. So today I pulled the Jura out of moth balls to see if to still might work. After power up it choked on startup and errored out. pulling the top off (over the 5 years of owning this I had the panels off quite a few times replacing leaking tubing and o-rings). I could see the brew group was seizing when trying to cycle, which wasn't really surprising considering how long the thing was sitting. I knew there was a lot of good how to's on KZbin for this series, but would there be one dealing with the brew group? Finding your series was the ticket! I didn't have the repair kit for refreshing o-rings , but figured pulling the brew group and giving it a thorough cleaning and lube might be all I needed t get it going. Your detailed step by step guided me through it, and after a few hiccups got it cleaned, reassembled and all back together. Had some issues with initial water fill as the unit was bone dry and ended up running a cleaning and descaling cycles. Also an old problem cropped up in that I kept getting the "Tray Missing" message even though it was emptied and properly placed. I seem to remember there was an issue with the contacts that sense the tray position. Anyway it's working pretty well now. My plan, now that I'm comfortable pulling and rebuilding the brew group, is to order the repair kit and do proper rebuild. And also tackle the grinder disassemble clean and rebuild. Thats gotta be gunked up pretty good after all the beans passing through it. Again, many thanks for taking the time to put this together. This is the go to breakdown/how to for Jura Impressa series.

I enjoyed the whole 4 video series - very methodical and informative. If anyone needs the inspiration to perform this type of work themselves then your videos give it in spades. Question: Why was the machine set to language “German” when you’ve such a strong American accent ?

Hello. I follow your steps for cleaning and work perfect. I stumble upon changing the water pump and the membrane and as i remove the pump i broke the water line that feed the pump. I need to replace that line . Any suggestions how to remove safely the power switch look like I need to reach behind that. I have jura impresa s 9 . Thank you Mariana

And even more information. Using ground coffee (in the front-left chute), the machine works as expected, with the expected amount of coffee output and the expected amount and quality of grounds in the grounds tray. That suggests to the that the problem must be in the grinder. I did previously see grounds coming out of the grinder and into the brew group, but the volume was too small, and I always got the “Fill Beans” message.

Very informative and methodic videos. Thanks a lot for such good work. I just bought the Xs90, i have problem with grinder, it grinds the coffee beans into coarse pieces. and it obviously gives a very clear coffee. I changed the position of the sprockets to make it grind finer, it helped, but not much. I'm thinking of buying new conical crushers from ebay (there are titanic, aroma…) what do you think about? It will help ? Or better to buy new hole grinder?

Excellent series. But I have a question. After finding that my scraper blade (attached to the brew group) was broken, I bought a new scraper bled and a set of replacement seals and rebuilt the brew group, which appears to be working fine. While I had the machine open, I also disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled the grinder, and now it’s not working correctly. When everything is fully reassembled, except for the screws holding down the top, I tried to make coffee. I hear the grinder, but it sounds like it’s not engaging the beans. I can see the beans in the bin vibrating a bit. The cycle ends a few seconds after starting, with just a few tablespoons of dirty water in the cup, and the display instructs “Add beans,” even though the hopper is full. The grounds tray has a few tablespoons of very wet grounds. I’ve disassembled and reassembled the grinder twice, carefully following your instructions. I’ve ensured that the wire harness running from the top piece (bean sensor?) is reconnected through the hole in the back, all to no avail. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

More information: I removed the grounds chute at the front left so I could view what the grinder was expelling. There does appear to be an appropriate amount of grounds being pushed out and falling into the brew group, and the brew group does cycle. But I don’t see any compacted grounds in the grounds tray (do see very wet grounds there), I only get a few tablespoons of very light coffee, and I always get the message “Fill Beans,” even though the bean hopper is full. I didn’t see any brew group problems after I reassembled it. I don’t see any water leaking or collecting in the base. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you check my other video where I did the grinder rebuild, you will see that if the grinder turns during tightening the brarings fall out and it decouples, this most likes happens. watch that video.

@@retrotechandelectronics Thanks very much for this reply. As it happens, I identified a different problem, which I've since solved; when reassembling the top burr, I had neglected to press the plastic cover far enough on to ensure that the two clips came through. That created extra space between the two burrs. I fixed that, and the problem went away. Thanks again for a great series.
