If you haven't already watched it, I recommend JW's Camp Cretaceous series (which, despite being more for kids, feels much more like a proper continuation of JP than the JW movies). Also, if you wanna learn about real dinos (which technically include birds), I highly recommend Darren Naish's "Dinosaurs: How They Lived and Evolved" (the best adult intro to the whole story of dinos) & "Dinopedia: A Brief Compendium of Dinosaur Lore" (the best adult guide to dinos & their cultural impact since the 1970s).

So the real Velociraptor was actually quite small standing only about two feet high. The Raptors in the movie were actually modeled after the Deinonychus, but even then were enlarged as the Deinonychus would only stand about waist high. The fun thing is that when the movie began production, there weren't any known "raptor" species the size they made them. But only a few months before the movie came out, the Utahraptor was discovered which if anything is a little larger than the ones in the movie.
@gurdimeikenskjaldi50604 ай бұрын
If I'm not mistaken it was like 5 metres long xD I think the Utahraptor has been (or still is? sorry can't remember, probably they found bigger ones... can't remember if the Dakotaraptor was bigger...) the biggest known raptor
@partyleswine51554 ай бұрын
Dakotaraptor is currently classed as invalid due to controversy. The paleontologist who discovered the fossil is known for making mistakes or errors before, while another paleontologist claims with what he had for study that the fossil may be invalid. The one who discovered the fossil is also not allowing other scientists to study it. But you are correct that Utahraptor is currently the largest raptor...for now. A fragment fossil of what might be another raptor dubbed, "The Bissekty Giant," is currently being looked over, and if it's real then this fella would be larger than Utahraptor.

It doesn't matter how often I've seen Jurassic Park, that scene in the maintenance bunker when the Raptor shows up behind Ellie will always get me with the jumpscare. Side notes: The dinosaur sounds in this movie were made by combining sounds made by living animals and everyday objects. The Tyrannosaurus rex, affectionately known as Rexy, was a mix of elephant calf vocalizations (roar, snarls and growls), with koala, lion & tiger sounds and alligator gurgles thrown in and a dog playing with a rope toy (shaking the Gallimimus to death). The Dilophosaurus was a mix of hawk, swan, howler monkey and rattlesnake sounds. The adult Raptors were a mix of a walrus chest roar and dolphin mating scream, while the hatchling was a mix of owlet and fox kit sounds. The Brachiosaurus vocalizations were slowed down donkey brays, while the sneeze was a mix of an active fire hydrant and a whale breathing through its blowhole(s). (There's an "s" in parentheses because depending on whether or not whales have teeth or baleen plates (think of them as biological water filters) in their mouths, whales have either one of two blowholes) The Gallimimus's chief sound effect was made using the recorded calls of a mare (female horse) in heat, while their movements were inspired by those of ostriches. A good portion of this movie was shot on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. Whenever I hear Hammond ask "Who's hungry?", my first reaction every time is "Not after hearing the Raptors rip the cow apart." Lego released 30th anniversary sets in honor of Jurassic Park and the one I have is based on Dennis Nedry's encounter with the Dilophosaurus.

@Kovich134 ай бұрын
It’s funny how people react like this is a monster movie. It’s especially apparent during the T Rex chase scene when he said “wow, its just going to let them go?”. It’s easy to forget that these aren’t mythical creatures but real animals that actually existed. Much like Cheetahs, a T Rex was only capable of short burst of speed before becoming exhausted. So yes, it let them go because it wouldn’t have been able to keep pace with a car and for any length of time.
@mamalannightshyaman4 ай бұрын
Well in movies like Peter Jackson’s King Kong, the trex was falling to its death and still attacking the people like during a free fall to death as if it was thinking “I’m hungry” instead of “oh shit I’m about to die” That’s movies for ya
@wolf310ii4 ай бұрын
Its a movie, the T-Rex can hold the pace as long as the plot needs it. And even in the book they turn from "just animals" to "must hunt and eat humans at all costs" monsters. One arc is the T-Rex on a personal vendetta hunting Dr. Grant and the kids over the whole island, and the raptors eat their way through steel bars and concrete to get to Ian Malcom.
@NoelleMar3 ай бұрын
@@wolf310ii Right - and here, fully fed animals wouldn’t have the need to be so aggressive and eat so much. I mean they could, but it’s not particularly “realistic.” They also nerf the T-Rex somewhat (I guess slightly differently than in the book), but I don’t mind because er i don’t think that for example dinosaurs without feathers or a t-rex with impaired eyesight are pernicious myths lol. They still explain things fairly well.
@NoelleMar3 ай бұрын
But monster movies aren’t just mythical creatures. They can be humans, robots (not necessarily realistic as of yet lol, but they aren’t dragons), animals, or other. And these aren’t purely realistic portrayals of dinosaurs or even most predators, though they do have a lot of realism and imo explain things pretty well overall. But it absolutely is partly a monster movie, which is part of why I like this reaction. I mean I believe the real T-Rex moved a lot faster, its eyesight wasn’t based on movement, and predators wouldn’t necessarily be more aggressive than herbivores.

They're not making fun of it because, at the first this was like the first movie that actually put emphasis on dinosaurs in A. More positive way and more educational way. This is basically somewhat a horror movie to a degree, but yeah, there are a lot of things in here that paleontologists have found out through their due diligence studies, for example, the t. Rex does not need you to move it could see you just fine. The the dilapiposaurus that was in this movie would have been much bigger. Then what you saw in this film? ( this happens in the subsequent movies as well ) i mean, overall, i enjoyed it but i hate obvious errors like that. They talked about how it makes sense for the T-Rex not to pursue the Jeep here because it wastes more energy chasing the car for what will be only a snack, since calorically, humans would not satisfy the T-Rex's diet. I believe the analogy he used was that it makes less sense to chase a very agile granola bar than a giant steak dinner since the cost and reward is too distant (to put it into terms that we can understand).

I watched this when I was a kid, scared me so bad my dad had to show me the bonus features (I watched this in VHS) to calm me down 😂 now I watch this movie twice a month lol . . and when I got older I found a LOT mistakes in this movie. like when the trex punched through the car roof. that wasn't suppose to happen. you can see the massive animatronic lean to the side for a second. this is just one of the many things I found in the movie. try to find them! its fun!

I think another movie you would enjoy from 1996 is Twister. Those effects or epic in the movie came out and still hold up pretty well today.

ALSO fun fact..... Steven Spielberg wanted only practical effects in the movie and was convinced to have cgi also by the scene with the gallimimus flocking

First CGI dinosaurs ever. Giant puppets were also used.

Yeah JP was huge a huge influence in CGI. The only thing that ever had a bigger impact than JP was the Star Wars Prequels, and well, Lucas and Spielberg are close AF so, really it's not that surprising is it?

Hey guys, nice job. Looking forward to more of your content in the future. If I were to make one suggestion, it would be in your editing. Your picture-in-picture clips are really short, and popping back and forth with the room you both are in, it’s almost strobing. Maybe consider longer clios, or going to blurred and semi-muted footage between the clips you really want to showcase, to kind of ease us in and out a little more smoothly. Also maybe consider vignetting yourselves on top of full screen clips. As far as you talking over the movie? You guys are great. Honest, movie-living respectful commentary is a lot less common than you’d think, so to see it come from you means big point in your favor. Like I said, I’m looking forward to more content from you folks…thanks for the channel!

A hilarious recommandable film for the whole family. Especially on Xmas after your lunch of fried Dinosaur steaks with fresh onions, garlic and lemons.

Hi. So, just watched your introduction and just wanted to say thanks. We all just need to be patient i think. Some people should realize this IS a reaction channel and we should expect a certain amount of reaction from you two throughout the film, so i have no problem with that. Perhaps there's a fine line. But, if people want to see the movie they should rent or buy it, right. So, so far i think you are doing fine and ive only watched one of your other ones. Thanks guys. 😎👍

Great reaction! don't listen to the gate keepers, that's why they are called reactions. I watch a lot of reactions and everyone got they own style.

Understand that when we saw the release of this movie, no one knew it was about dinosaurs! Jurassic meant nothing to most viewers. And when Steven Spielberg introduced those dinosaurs that you saw, children screamed with joy in the movie theaters! It was only after this release that people started talking about dinosaurs from the 50s and stop motion monsters again.

be worth it to watch the making of, it's quite interesting. i remember having to leave for a sec, coming back, sitting down in the theatre, looking up and seeing the velociraptor break through. scared tf out of me. ignore the haters. we watch reactions to hear you reacting to it. dont like the flashy game in the top right, that drove me nuts, but you talking is not the problem. if the movie is at a good part you will naturally be quiet/entranced. I personally loved all the Jurassic Parks. Things from the Jurassic Park book left out of the first movie were added to the second. They weren't as good as one, but nothing could be.

I'm glad you like JP :) It's my favorite movie!

First time watching & y’all are doing just fine. I’ve always found people that complain about reactors talking during a REACTION VIDEO to be so stupid. If you don’t want to listen to people reacting then don’t watch a reaction video 🤷♂️🤦♂️

JP was my favorite movie as a kid in '93 and it still is to this day. JP2 gets a lot of hate because it had impossible expectations to live up to since the first one. It's still very good and woth the watch. Great reaction, and f#%k the commenters telling you how to run your channel.

I subd cuz you did a great job. I hope you will watch all kinds of movies, even those that are outside your area of interest.

It's ironic you mention avatar and titanic. The director of both of those films (James Cameron) has always pushed the technology in films. From the first terminator to terminator 2 and now the avatar films. Terminator 2 btw still holds up incredibly well.

Man the negative comments really outta nowhere. Like this isnt a xqc reaction video giys. They gotta say comments and stuff in the video or copyright gets them 😂😂 and like you guys said you new to this, youll figure out the flow. Also, i know its p4obably been said here somewhere in the comments, but the scene with the trex coming through the car roof? Yeah...completely unintentional..the animatronic got so waterlogged from the rain that one of the supports broke...so the screams of terror in that shot were entirely genuine. Jist speaks to the actors..hope those kids got to talk to someone bout it though 😅
