I'll never forget the hopeless, almost hysterical sound of the first guy sobbing as he desperately begs the rest of his crew to stop the plane for him. That scene always stuck with me, as a kid.

@@criert135 The Indominus Rex is right up there with Spinosaurus for me. It's the fact that this hybrid Frankenstein abomination doesn't kill to survive. She kills just for fun! She's sadistic and has the ability to use camouflage, speak Raptor, and watching her tear through the people sent to capture her after she escapes had my heart racing. Seeing everyone on the monitors flatlline one by one was terrifying because she wasn't even eating them. She was brutally and intentionally killing them for sport and sadistic enjoyment.

A big part of it had to do with the T-Rex fanboys getting so up in arms about their precious Dino getting tossed so easily against Spino, how they never lived together let alone same continent, etc.…how easy it is to forget that this was a time period where we didn’t know as much about Spino as we do now (come to discover it’s semi-aquatic, lightweight and slender build) plus these are genetically engineered/hybrid animals, specially JP spino, since it was basically created unbeknownst to InGen, and seemly illegally. It could be a hybrid for all we know based on the more upright, maybe even allosaurian posture with the strong head and bite force…that’s what my head canon is to justify why the way it is
@Spectreofwar
@Spectreofwar 8 ай бұрын
@@jwilson2793 Can confirm: I did read (quite some time ago) that the reason it wasn't on Ingen's list was because it was a hybrid, you're absolutely right. However, it was a hybrid between the Spinosaurus and Tyrannosaurus (hence being powerful enough to take down a T-Rex; even back then, while we knew its size was larger, there really wasn't much question that the T-Rex with a heavier build and largest bite force of any terrestrial animal in existence wouldn't have stacked odds in its favour). As for the legality of it, unless there's something specific to the JP/JW universe, genetic engineering is either all legal or all illegal; Hammond didn't run any of his operation by authorities with the ability to do anything about it. As a T-Rex fanboy myself, I actually enjoyed seeing something take down the apex predator; I just found it difficult to believe that it was a Spinosaurus of all things. Part of the problem was having Jack Horner as the new consultant on set, whose (incorrect) ideas differed from previous iterations (i.e., he was a Spino fanboy and perpetuated the idea that the Spino, being larger, was therefore more powerful than the T-Rex, and also that he T-Rex was a scavenger and weak) which necessitated the now-canon theory that the Spino is a hybrid (previously it not being on Ingen's list was a mystery added as an excuse to use it, since we already all knew what species Ingen grew on Isla Nublar). The other part was that whether it was Horner's writings, or this scene, or just the cool factor of the real Spinosaurus itself, Spino fanboys came out of the woodwork and became utterly insufferable, attracting equally-insufferable Rex fanboys that took offense to the clip in the movie. From the comments on this KZbin video, many of each camp never really grew up. :P

The infamous Spinosaurus vs T. rex fight was originally intended to be much longer and more even than it ultimately was, but had to be cut short to its current length and quick end when the Spinosaurus animatronic, a newer model and more powerful than the T. rex (which was repurposed from the previous film), turned out to be much stronger than anticipated. They underestimated exactly how powerful the machine was and during the fight a swipe from it As a result, it ended up decapitating the T. rex animatronic in one swipe, damaging it beyond repair forcing the fight to be massively shortened and cut shorter than was intended 4;54

To me this movie needed more spino as a horror movie monster with a lot of character development between kirby and his wife while the group escapes the spino multiple times before finally killing it. With ellie saving most of the group with the navy. This would have made such an improved movie with a lot more rewatchability past the spino being the big attraction.

It's a real shame that the Spinosaurus gets so much flack because of THAT infamous scene with the Tyrannosaurus. I always loved how sadistic and outright PSYCHOTIC this thing was (not least in this scene with the plane) - it really terrified me as a kid, and it still gets my adrenaline flowing today. All of the T. rex's physical power, and all of the Velociraptors' viciousness AND THEN SOME in one body. Also, why the frig did they remove that beautiful, nightmarish roar in 'Camp Cretaceous?!'

Apparently though, according to some that I've read, the Spinosaurus here is actually a genetically modified hybrid Spino so that may have a factor on why it managed to survive the T. Each to their own but I think most people find non-stop action boring and in my opinion it reduces the impact of the action sequences because they're on too often. It's like if you have all the money in the world, you'd take it for granted and wouldn't appreciate the smaller things as much. In JP3 there was no tension or suspense because 1. There was no build-up, 2. The characters were so 2 dimensional and annoying, 3. The plot was so basic and not believable. On top of that I disliked that the CGI was overdone. They clearly put more time and effort into the spinosaurus effects as the spino looks great in JP3, but the others dinos (riverboat scene especially) look like video game graphics. My opinion of course, and like I said, each to their own.

Sure it not the best but to me it incredibly fun to watch. I hate spino AND trex fans. No ones better than the other shut the hell up. The other two world movies were kinda like the Disney Star Wars movies, didn’t make any sense, poor character development, one dimensional characters, but unlike the Star Wars movies. The Jurassic Park films had a identity and kinda fell into obscurity. Jurassic Park 3 had a interesting idea but it was very poorly executed without Speilburg. For those of you, who said something like: "Spinosaurus looks inaccurate..." STFU... The movie was made in 2001, and back then paleonthology knew very little about Spinosaurs, as they didn't have much of its fossils. This scene alone is a testament to why we love Stan Winston and his amazing effects crew, as well as practical effects work in general. The crew really went all out to create a full-size robotic dinosaur to add so much more tension to the scene and majesty to the creature’s appearance to appeal to so many of us. I can respect them and the movie highly for that. Rest in peace, Stan Winston. ❤️

Good god everyone. 1.) Run the playback speed slower. The plane does not even really hit the Spinosaurus’s spine, it just nicks the very top of it. 2.) There is only one Spinosaurus on Isla Sorna, the director of the film confirmed that. 3.) Stop complaining that the T-Rex lost, it just as likely to lose a battle against another large carnivore as it is to win. 4.) All genetically modified dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park franchise are different from the original, not just the Spinosaurus, like Dr. Wu said in Jurassic World, “Nothing in Jurassic World is natural... And if their genetic code was pure, many of them would look quite different.”

This is one of the most iconic movies for me from my childhood. When i was 14, some random day on march, 2012, i did not want to write the biology test, so instead of going to school, I went on a long walk in the neighbouring forest. But my parents found out about it, and my dad took away my laptop for 2 months. I had a small dvd player with a fold-up screen, and JP3 on DVD. I watched it almost every night, to the point that I know the dialogues word by word. Good old times lol.
