Jurassic Park (Game Gear) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Sega's 1994 movie license-based shooter/platformer for the Sega Game Gear, Jurassic Park.
I had a friend in elementary school that had a Game Gear, and since I had a Game Boy, whenever our moms would get together and plan outings for the two families, we'd always swap systems, and whenever i wasn't playing Sonic, this was my go to. It looks great for a GG game (some of those dinosaurs are awesome!) and it was just easy and short enough that I could get through it during a trip or before the huge battery pack ran out of juice. Good times!

Jurassic Park was a pretty awesome game on just about every platform that one of its games got put, and the Game Gear one is no exception. These graphics are unbelievable!

I had a Game Gear, and my holy crap I played this shit out this game when I was a kid since my parents traveled in a mobile-home. I loved every bit of music and it was most of my favorite part of the game itself. I didn't have much but this and Sonic to work with, but it was great to me. I will never forget it!

The ending is funny. Congratulations, thanks to your heroic efforts Dr. Grant, now we can open the park for all the children. Umm, I don’t think that’s what Grant ever wanted. Maybe I read a different novel or watched a different movie. Regardless, this video brings back some memories. This game was my jam as a kid. Wasted countless amounts of batteries playing this one for sure.

Shame we only get to see the good ending. That's right this game has two ends, one where you fight the Rex and one where you don't. The second one is kinda messed up, because you don't find Rex but the park opens anyway. Thank you for playing this game from my childhood

So I just played Shinobi 3, and this game (Jurassic Park for Game Gear/Master system) is pretty much a demake of Shinobi 3. Both were developed by Sega in 1993. Shinobi also features side scrolling action with a character who shoots and who grabs and moves along the ceiling. It also features the travelling stages where you fight off enemies who approach from the background to the edge of the screen while you speed along, then fight a boss. It was so obvious to me when I saw the horse riding stage in Shinobi 3 that it was the same developers as this game.

The T-Rex at 27:30 looks like either a grumpy ferocious Barney (maybe he hit bad times?) or perhaps Megatron II from Transformers: Beast Wars.

Lol. The final stage/good ending of this game is actually only obtainable when you beat the first four stages without using a continue. But yes I think so.

Oh man I remember playing against the t rex and it took me multiple times to beat up and was very different for me to avoid it

I'm 33 and to this day I don't think I've ever beaten the T Rex without taking a hit.

You have to jump to avoid it's stomp, avoid the falling crates, and run to the left, and duck at the perfect moment to avoid the T Rex's bite. If you duck too late you get bite, if you duck too soon the T Rex bites low.

It's so upbeat and positive and out of place, I think it makes it a perfect fit for the Game Gear game's ending. Most of the novel and movies and games leave an open end, for more. We know there's going to be more JP, this surprise good non twist ending was a nice touch for me back in the day. I was expecting the catch somewhere in the ending and went "Huh........well good on you" It wouldn't have worked in a book or movie though, but it's juuuust right here.

@@stemen1162 If you beat all four Stages without using a Continue (You're allowed to die) you get the change to go to the Visitor Center to face the T-Rex and save the park.

Who ARE you playing as in this version? It doesn't look like Dr. Grant, who you do play as in this game's big brother on the SMS. The character here looks like some generic mercenary type of character.
