I always find abandoned attractions like this, in such a mostly intact state, to be so strange. I mean, I get it when an entire theme park is abandoned- the owner isn't going to use the land for anything anymore, so rather than pay someone to remove the developments they just cut their losses and leave. But attractions? like the one in this video- there's a crap-load of old props and stuff, containers, things like that simply walled off. This attraction may be unused, but unless I'm mistaken Universal still has other things Jurassic Park-related things in the park right? You'd think they'd at least recycle the unused props for other attractions.

as a closeted robotics freak, my biggest complaint is how they just LEFT the animatronic triceratops there. The one looked like it was in perfect condition, and the other two look like they were in the process of being built. They could of easily moved them to somewhere else and re used them for another attraction or sold them to another company. Now those perfectly good pieces of equipment are just gonna rot, when they could of put them to better use easily. Hell, id love to have an animtatronic triceratops even though i dont know the first thing about robotics, im just fascinated by it. y u do dis >.

The triceratops' animatronic functions were obviously out of date. Maintenance(I feel stupid since I probaby spelled that wrong oh whale) and the upkeep for them would be very expensive. The parts are probably going to be old and parts that you will go through tons of trouble to find and be very costly. Also, the older the robotics, the more it takes to make it run. It may have had to operate on alot of energy which would cost alot of money. From what I know, each triceratops had individual ages. One was the oldest and meant to have been created in the lab in 1999 and it was probably 2011 when they brought Triceratops back the last time. The old one is the matriarch, and according the those staffing her during operation hours, she would get neevous around guests and the staff member would wave a plant infront of her face as a way to calm her down? Which is stupid because that woukd have the opposite effect realisticaly. There was a youngest that was designed to be three years old and was supposed to get excited by guests and there were obvious differences between the two. The third could've been another one in progress to be an adult, also, their eyes moved aswell. The areas that looked like dinos escaped could be made into an attraction, a few handfuls of guests at a time would go with a staff member to recover a few lost or abandoned sites, with possibly a while decent sized raptor pack would set up a trap like in the movie but then the staff member"sacrifices" themself tell the group to run, mabey have an under cover staff member in the group pretend to be dragged into the brush and mauled. It would make a wonderful attraction.

i saw this attraction when it was still fairly new. it came out in 1999, and i saw it in about 2001. It was marketed at "meet a live triceratops" as they had a whole jurassic park lab setup nearby that hatched little animatronic baby dinos and.. this was a full grown specimen, and it would move its head, blink, and shift back and forth a little. It was the closest my childhood self ever got to seeing a real live dinosaur in person.

Makes me sad. Also irritated. How could they just leave a whole bunch of fully sized animatronic Dino's aboundond and left without supervision. Or warnings and security measures to keep people out if they were to come on by accident. Like an electrical surge. Most importantly why not leave it active or renew it. jordan davidson It's a sad thing, really. I remember there was this playground that I really loved when I was maybe eight years old living in Illinois. Back in '74 or thereabouts. Funnest place I can remember. A huge slide. Waterfall. Everything. I went back to that location in 1998 during a family reunion and the place was steamrolled, gone, an empty lot with some scattered pieces of debris here and there. I swear I could still hear the sound of children laughing and playing, the squeaking of swings, and the gurgling of the waterfall. Sometimes I weep thinking about certain memories and knowing that I'll never get the chance to relive many of them. Or those that I never got to experience.

Eh I've been there about twice before they closed it down, you didn't miss on much. All the triceratops did was stand around while one of the ride attendants gave off some dialog like the skipper in jaws did.

I went there and got a few items but the triceratops was away :(. There was a screw missing under where the picture was and i could almost get a dino news thing umder the telephone. It was is good condition also because it it has been under the display case for the long time.

Got shown all of this during my training to work over at Camp Jurassic. It's still there, the triceratops are all now completely gone, and while some of the stuff may seem like it'd be cool to try and take, a good portion of it is secured, taped down, and oh yeah, INFESTED WITH BLACK WIDOWS. Trust me, if any of you manage to bungle your way into this area, I would suggest getting out as soon as you can. My trainer cautioned me not to touch anything, as much of it has been rusted away. Feral cats prowl the area searching for rodents and snakes who also lurk back in these kinds of areas. In abundance. All of you trying to make plans to get in here, just don't. There's less and less to see with each passing day. I've already ran into some 'lost' Guests claiming to seek out a smoking area...some of us keep a regular watch on this area.

Andrew Bruner I can't say for sure, because nothing's been announced externally or internally. If the rumor mill's got it right (Kong), then I'd expect nothing less than demolishment for it eventually. The only notable things back there are what's seen in the video minus the Triceratops animatronics, who have all been removed. Plans were made to use the area for return time tickets for Hogsmeade during the summer, but for some reason it never happened. I expect -maybe- during absolute peak (December 26th - January 6th) they'll make use of it, but everything will be carefully guarded and queued off.

Tom Taylor Depends on who finds you. If it's security and they're in a bad mood, you may get kicked out of the park. If it's an attendant who happens to be going through there at the time, likely less severe. If a black widow finds you and bites you, well, it depends on how quickly you can get to Health Services. I'm going to again recommend that folks thinking about it probably shouldn't do it.

Black Widows won't harm you if you leave them alone. Heck, they'll try to run before they bite. Feral cats, on the other hande, are more of a problem. Better be careful there.

I do, as a matter of fact. And I'm going to check in once more, letting all of you know that this area will no longer be accessible in the standard way, as the brand new Raptor Encounter experience which opened yesterday takes up a considerable chunk of the real estate. With daily shows, guests will no longer have access to this area other than to have their picture taken with a Velociraptor.

All signs point to this being a permanent addition. Intense construction took place for around a month and a half, folks were hired for it, training was done, and now the Raptor Encounter has presentations daily from 11am to 4pm. There is no signage tying it to Jurassic World, nor do the structures appear easy to remove.

Lack of interest/attendance seems to be the most commonly cited reason for its closure, though the company has never really come out with it. My guess is that it became too expensive to maintain and staff during a time where attendance was still trying to pick back up.

You guys should see the attraction graveyard behind Toon Land, they have all sorts of old shit there. I never thought of filming it but I use to work for the WWoHP the shuttle took us right behind it. Before Jaws closed down they had some of the old boats. I saw the attraction when it was working when I was about 8-9 years old (I'm 22 now). You waited in line to pet the "live" triceratops, which was breathing, blinking, and moving its head and tail. There was a handler there to tell you where to pet it and it even "sneezed" on the girl in front of me because it was "sick" and even had snot-like liquid around its nose and mouth.

It's not really abandoned it's just not used. It's not some old forgotten attraction just LAYING in the MIDDLE of the jurassic world park section. It's also still being taken care of because everything is not old rotten and wearing away people still take care of it. If you look when Adam is in the buildings the tricerotops were being dismantled. And other valuable appliances would be taken away like the fan. Also I don't think Universal Studios would keep an abandoned "easy to get to" attraction In the middle of their park.

This was a closed attraction inside an open themepark. You just pay to get into the themepark, this area was blocked off but you could get around it. Though I am glad he documented it so the memories can live on forever.

Most of these places aren't guarded. The park guys are like "Nah, who'd want to go on a ride that doesn't work?" and then go to lunch. It's like Bay Lake. Disney abandoned it but most of the infrastructure is still there and people hop the fence all the time.

MrNateSPF I don't mean they work on the ride per-se, but there are people assigned to monitor non-operational areas of the park. Like Bay Lake on Disney property. No one works there, but they still have a mouse cop that putts around on a golf cart and radios in, or sometimes someone will hop the gate from an active part of the park into an abandoned area. But, yes. Mr. Woo has balls of steel!

The Triceratops at 0:53 is actually used today in front of the Velociraptor Encounter area. I saw it 3 days ago on my last visit to Universal Studios Orlando.

God I remember when this was in working order back in 2005. There was a tour guide showing you around the working facility. Showing you how they prepared their food, care and health. etc. Just FYI Those cages in the middle of your tour consisted of different raptors that would shake and scream. . Actors were playing the part of the workers tending to it. The theme was a that raptors got lose and one of those spitting dinos. I think they moved those animatronic dinos to the other Jurassic ride. There were Raptors lunging out at you from the leaves and the kind that have the frill and spit. Even had a stream of water that would shoot you. Also the Triceratops would snot out water from it's nose directly at you when you would pass. IT was SOO COOL, when working. Every time I revisit this vid woo, I think of my trip to Islands of Adventure ! THX! :D

We used to go see this exhibit which was down a path in the woods next to a building that housed all sorts of Jurassic Park items. The Dino was amazing and really showed off what looked so close to the movie Dino's. It was supposed to be a medical experimental facility. It really is a shame being that the movie is so big now.
