Jurassic Park, later also referred to as Jurassic World, is an American science fiction media franchise created by Michael Crichton and centered on a disastrous attempt to create a theme park of cloned dinosaurs. It began in 1990 when Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment bought the rights to Crichton's novel Jurassic Park before it was published. The book was successful, as was Steven Spielberg's 1993 film adaptation. The film received a theatrical 3D re-release in 2013, and was selected in 2018 for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". A 1995 sequel novel, The Lost World, was followed by a film adaptation in 1997. Subsequent films in the series, including Jurassic Park III (2001), are not based on the novels.

The original ending had Muldoon coming back and shooting the raptors, but at the last minute, Spielberg came up with the T Rex being the hero angle.

No dinosaurs were shot in this movie. Guess he wanted to keep it that way.

@@VileGloryYeah, Spielberg's apparent aversion to guns outside of his war projects has gone a little overboard in recent decades. His changes to the climax in the E.T. re-release is testament to that.

Actually the producers said the original endings had Grant shooting one raptor dead and the other raptor was going to get crushed by the falling skeleton bones and die that way. But Spielberg wanted to bring the T Rex (who they said was the star of the movie) back one more time.

For all you high-school literacy fans out there: Ellie and Alan not knowing she’s about to shock Timmy out is an example of “dramatic irony,” when the audience is aware of something the characters are not. The viewer exclaiming they see what’s coming “from a mile” away is exactly the reaction Uncle Stevie wanted from his audience. I love these reactions vids because they’re basically quiet indirect instructions on how to construct impeccable scenes of tension. Great stuff.

So, how many of you out there knotted up in terror during the Kitchen Scene? I know I’m not the only one. 7:42 Fun story: when my best friend saw this movie for the first time, his dad was seated next to a little old lady. When the Jump and Snap happened, she jolted back so hard that her elbow dead armed him. He spent the rest of the movie in pain and high adrenaline.

Dr. Arnold (Samuel Jackson’s character) was originally supposed to have his own chase and death scene, but on the day of that scheduled shoot, a tropical storm swept through the area and ruined the shoot day.

True, when Dr. Elle Satler saw the Dr. Anrold's arm then was being chased she started skipping, why? Its because she tripped on Dr. Arnold's leg which is filmed or set up to film but due to the storm it was cut out. It took me forever to realize the reason Hammond screams, "DON'T!" into the phone is because the glass was reinforced. The raptors couldn't bbreak through...unless the glass was damaged by, say, a shotgun.

When the girl Lex falls from the false ceiling because of the velociraptor, she was actually a film stuntwoman and when she fell she looked at the camera and it was clear that it was not the actress. Then they realized this detail. Fortunately, they replaced the girl's face with a computer. resulting in a very realistic scene.

Honestly I wished they eventually shot Arnold's death scene but because of a hurricane or a tornado at the time Arnold's death wasn't shot. Kind of how I wished Muldoon (the Park Ranger/Hunter in the book actually survived the ordeal and Hammond actually died. I also wished we got the best Grant scene in the book adapted into the movie. where he defeats 3 raptors on his own not by brute strength but intelligence and quick thinking.

Fun fact: Wood cannot conduct electricity, so Dr. Grant using a stick to test if the power’s on was a big fuck up on his part, especially considering he’s a scientist, and should know that. The kitchen scene still gives me chills every time! 😬

Actually anything can conduct electricity if the voltage is enough to overcome the dielectric strength of the material. It's just that some material (insulators) don't conduct it as easily as others. At 10,000 volts, not sure if that's enough to overcome the high resistance of wood. However, you are correct that his test would still fail, but for a different reason. The stick made contact with the fence, and fence only, in that brief moment while not being connected to a return path (neutral, a return wire for DC, a second hot wire with a different voltage phase for AC, an electrical ground, or the physical ground itself). This means the stick would be at the same electric potential as the wire, the same reason why birds perching on One hot wire don't get electrocuted. Of course, which is a completley different test of him walking up to the fence, touching two wires, while standing on the ground itself.

The original ending had Grant shoot one of the Raptors down, while the other was being crushed under the T rex skeleton falling on it. But Spielberg felt that the Trex was kinda the star of the movie, and so he rewrote the scene to have him come in clutch and fight off the raptors. The original ending can be experience in the Game adaptation of the movie on Sega Megadrive, cause back then when a game adaptation was made of a movie, the dev team would get the movie script and work from there with a few key visuals of what the movie and what was in it looked like. So they had the original ending, where to beat the final encounter Vs the Raptors, you have to dodge the raptors attacks and throw grenades at the skeleton to make it fall on the Raptors. This is one of the raisons why often, movie Games had so much differences from the movie.
