Looking back at this monumental project, it feels like it should have been obvious that the RV shop didn't know what they were doing with this, and it saddens me to know that they just wasted time and money. I only hope that the new owners of the RV are able to get it back to 100 percent.

i agree, once you started poking it the thing would be completely rotted. just gut it, prime it and retro build it authentic with real material, steal, metal, cables computers etc. why rebuild a movie set?

I just found this project today if I had the opportunity to do this I would go ballistic. One thing I can't believe is how much short cuts the studio took to build this thing I was surprised to see it all made out of wood. I gotta agree with that guy strip the whole thing down to bare metal and start again replace the wood metal do a proper job. I will be sure to donate some money I can haha hopefully it can buy some sheet metal or something.

RCPhotosVideos I don't think this is a 3-month project. A guy bought a Delorean that was in similar shape and it took him two YEARS to make it look like new. This is basically like restoring TWO vehicles since it's a double-RV. That guy is going to need all the help he can get... He gets my respect for saving a piece of movie history. Unlike those "movie critics," The lost world is my favorite Jurassic Park sequel.

I hope there is an old computer in there for them to check out, but like most movies the computer screen was probably just a display or even possibly CGI.

What a junker :D Seems like it would be simpler to just do what the original creators did - get a similar vehicle and dress it up according to the original. Since its only plywood and paint, and you want to make it actually roadworthy, there can't be anything "original" left in the end? (Other than a trashy RV underneath it all)

It's like restoring a rusty rare muscle car, yeah you have to replace most of the sheet metal, straighten the frame, rebuild the engine, all new interior; but underneath all those new parts is a real deal Hemi 'Cuda 4 speed or in this case a one of four screen used Jurassic Park RVs (and probably only 2 still exist).

strip it down to bare bones....replace everything......put new inside and outside wood extras...to me its no longer the screen used bus. just the metal frame. pointless.

Don't think its a very iconic vehicle from the JP universe, as the film it was in was terrible. Also the amount of stuff they are going to have to strip off it, will result in essentially a replica prop not really the same prop used in the film.
