I feel a bit conflicted about this Jurassic Park game, since there are both a lot of uniquely well done elements I still appreciate and other mechanics that have long since been surpassed, in my opinion... For example, the fact that you could practically get unlimited ammo and health, by revisiting the indoor areas you just cleared, diminishes my aforementioned sense of uneasiness and tension. That is, in comparison to games that would later perfect the Survival Horror formula, such as the original Resident Evil/Dino Crisis. This aspect of the JP game feels like the equivalent to playing Resident Evil, if I had access to the magnum and grenade launcher right from the start and could easily stock up unlimited ammo. If Resident Evil was like that, it would pretty much break the game. After playing those other titles, I can still enjoy this JP game and have fond childhood memories of beating it. But certain aspects like this have not aged well, by later games’ standards, besides the missing save feature.

As a kid, I got so frustrated with trying to beat this game that I actual made hand-drawn maps in a notepad of where everything was, and instructions on what order to do everything in. It’s the lack of a save feature that makes it so tough. You have to beat it in a single session, and you can explore a whole building to find a key card that is only useful in some other building, so you really have to know what order to do everything in. Only game where I put in that level of effort.

Linear games were more my jam back in the day haha. When I played this, it was basically GTA style of kill all the dinosaurs lol. Hearing that music REALLY took me back to my childhood. Damn...haven't heard that level theme in over 25 years. It must have taken those raptors months to put all that brick and mortar in to fortify their nest lol. There are some things in this game that make me chuckle about the ridiculousness of it, but at the same time I appreciate it for the amazingness it is. I was so obsessed with Jurassic park as a kid. I have the whole Command Center playset, the jeep (not the Ford Explorer though, that shit was impossible to find!), the mega T-Rex, the damage mini t-rex (or alosaur?), the dilophosauras, raptor, pteradon, and a few others. This was my first time seeing the ending, I could never finish the game, and man! Was it underwhelming. I kind of thought the buildup to the T-Rex getting out meant it was the "boss battle" before leaving the island. Then that little flyaway scene for the ending.. ugh. But thank you so much for the video. Played with the efficiency of someone who has played through the game every day for the last 25 years. Like you were an employee at Jurassic Park, cause you knew the ins and outs of every inch of this place. Also, that flute song is such a banger. New ringtone.

Oh man I remember watching my older brother play this on the snes and had a notebook of notes just for this game and when he finally beat it he was like........wtf that's the ending I spent all this time and effort playing and making notes for this ending lol

I finally found it! Been wondering the name of this game for years! Played it as a little kid at school. I kept overlooking it because I didn't realize that a number of floppy disk games the school had were ports from the SNES. Also, 16:32 I get an ad; "AHH!! Don't go in there!" Perfect ad timing 😂

This was one TOUGH SNES game to own as a kid. You had to make a map showing where all the eggs could be found (a ridiculously hard task), where the security cards were, and which buildings had to be accessed in which order. The combat you could learn and make adjustments to, but figuring out the order took lots of trial and error. Finding all the eggs alone was extremely difficult.
@RisingBeast002 жыл бұрын
It's really not that hard. I didn't needed a map. I literally had the map in my head. I still do.
@underwaterlevelz19472 жыл бұрын
@@RisingBeast00 I could do that (map in my head) with some games such as Super Metroid but Jurassic Park wasn't one of them. The later interiors were also confusing to navigate, like the ship.

This brings back so many memories. I can't understand why so many people prefer the Genesis version of Jurassic Park to the SNES version. This game is so much better IMO. Good graphics and great music. Plus, it was my first ever experience with first person gameplay. The only negative of this game is that it has no save system.

I'm just now realizing that this game played a huge part in why I love watching people play scary games. I was pretty young at the time so when it went to first person mode inside buildings it used to terrify me so I would only run around the outside not getting much done, but I watched my brother play it all the time and it was such a rush watching him do the scary stuff.
